Tom's Guest House

The stay was really amazing. The house itself is beautiful and is very well located. The host David is very friendly and very happy to support with our stay in Cape Town. He was happy to help with restaurant bookings, sightseeing tips and any other general queries that came up during our stay. The house is roughly 10 mins driving in good traffic from the major points in the city, ie. Table Mountain, Lions Head, and the Waterfront. The breakfast on offer was very nice and filled us both up before a long day of sightseeing. David and his team were also happy to accommodate when we requested sandwiches to take away rather than sitting for breakfast due to an early start. We will for sure check availability here if we are lucky to visit Cape Town again one day.

Honestly nothing. The whole week here was great.

Great location round the corner from the St. Cyprians hockey astro. Close to lots of restaurants and a shopping center. Comfortable and secure. Good breakfast. Enjoyed the wood fire in the lounge area.

Relaxed atmosphere and great location. Friendly host and good breakfast. Nice small pool for the summer time.

We stayed at Tom’s Guest House for 5 nights. David, the owner, was there to greet us despite the later check in. During our stay, he was there to suggest activities and trips to do whatever the weather. There was also a guide in English. The breakfast was great and the eggs were lovely thanks to Sylvia and Irene who were very friendly. The coffee at breakfast was also so good. Our bed in room 7 was 6 foot wide and was as comfortable as the one we have back home. The best bed so far in our trip around the Cape. There are plenty of restaurants around Kloof Street but the best of all was Kloof Street House. So far it has been the best restaurant in terms of quality and is not expensive compared to UK prices. Book this early as it is very popular especially if you prefer an earlier sitting like ‘old foggies’ like us. An Uber costs less R 60 to this restaurant. David was great for booking us tables around this area or if you require a place further away. We would happily return to Tom’s Guest House when we come back to South Africa. Thanks David and the team for a lovely stay.

This is a lovely guesthouse. David was so helpful, he couldn’t do enough to make sure that our needs regarding safety, restaurant recommendations, activity recommendations etc, etc. we’re covered. We had a private tour down to Cape of Good Hope arranged by David, which was absolutely fantastic and highly recommended. The house is in a lovely quiet neighbourhood and close enough to everything you need to see and do in Cape Town. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful served up by his friendly staff who also took care of our needs including our laundry, which is a lovely addition. We had views of Table Mountain from one side of our room and Signal Hill from the other. Whilst here we did so many activities including Kayaking, hiking, a steam train into Elgin train market, sunset champagne catamaran cruise. I highly recommend all of these.

Clean, well managed and extremely attentive service from David and his staff. The rooms and the common areas including the pool were lovely and well kept. The neighborhood and location were fantastic.

We spent a wonderful 11 days at Tom's Guest House celebrating our 10th anniversary. David is a wonderful host, always welcoming and giving us helpful advice about Cape Town, for example the Cape Point Vineyards night market in Noordhoek. We had a lovely room on the first floor with good views of table mountain from the bathroom and Cape Town from the bedroom. The wifi was fast. There was a good breakfast every day (eggs, cereal, cold meats etc) and David kindly got oat milk for us. We ate breakfast outside every day. The sun beds and swimming pool are great with towels provided. The room was very comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The area is very quiet. The guest house is close to the foot of Table Mountain and the Uber taxi is very cheap to the centre of Cape Town and the V&A Waterfront. We used Uber taxis most of the time. We had no problem parking our car immediately outside of the guest house. There is a lovely cafe - Deer Park Cafe - a short walk from the guest house. I have no hesitation recommending this guest house and we would definitely stay there again the next time we go to Cape Town.
