古民家ゲストハウス ナマケモノ

The owners are very kind, always looking forward to speaking with you, and understand English very well! The living/meeting rooms are spacious and comfortable with good comfortable seats and sofas. All of the guests are also very friendly and look forward to talk with you too. I even got a beautiful hand drawing from the owner as a parting gift! I met an American family from New Jersey, the Suzuki family from Japan, newly weds from Australia, sisters from the UK, a guy from France, motorcyclists from Japan (one was a beautiful Japanese woman), and many other loving kind Japanese people who all spoke English; or with a translator. I will always remember these highlights. The closest Lawson and Family Mart are within walking distance for decent foods and meals.

When you have to pee pretty bad several times a night, it’s a long risky steep climb down the stairs, and more walking all the way across the room for the bathrooms. Not ideal with osteoarthritis and swollen prostate, being overtired. If you want a shower, be prepared to bring everything with you, as it’s a tiny little shower stall, with a separate room for sinks and mirror. It reminds me of the old style truck stops from back in the day. They had showers like this. The beds are rock hard tatami and thin futon mat, the pillows are also very hard. I was not able to sleep the first few nights. I eventually had to buy my own thick mattress and soft pillow at a store to finally get my sleep. My entire vacation was saved with that mattress and pillow alone.

A lovely, peaceful guesthouse, with kind and attentive hosts and in beautiful surroundings. The breakfast was also fantastic! We would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting Ōno :)

I liked the traditional house, beautifully renovated giving me the feeling of glories past times, surrounded by equally nice houses. The many treasure houses caught my attention letting me go back in time. Not to forget to mention, is the host. We had a long talk and I experienced an individual with a strong aura with deep kindliness.

The design was very Japanese in the best possible way. Very clean and beautiful Great calm atmosphere at the common area In the small Ono city which we loved

Even the private rooms are not really private since the walls don’t go all the way to the top and the ceiling is still connected between the rooms
