Near town but felt like a country cottage

Superb. Wonderful luxurious house, excellent host. Strongly advise taking the 4-course breakfasts. Short walk into centre of Potes with plenty of restaurants and shops.

Elena is a great host, she gave us excellent recommendations. The room was amazing, beautiful and clean.

The breakfast is ok and the only minus is that there are no optional options.

Lovely large bedroom with so much light … bedding that smelt fresh and reminded me of home. Love the communal tea and coffee area and option to buy small selection of drinks which was welcomed after a long ride. Elena is a wonderful host and recommend some great visiting places and eateries… easy walk into Potes. Wonderful find … xx

Nothing to not like and love at Villa Elena

Elena is such a wonderful host, the stay was like home away from home. Everything went smoothly, had the best breakfast ever and we received so many recommendations we need to come back and finish more hikes. Best experience in Northern Spain.

Elena is an excellent host. Breakfast was varied and freshly prepared each day. Villa Elena is a short walk into the town of Potes where there is a good selection of cafes and restaurants. Good location for hiking and only 23 km/20 mins to Fuente De.

Perfect location. Only a few minutes walk to the centre of town. Beautiful views from the room. Lovely sit out to the back of the property, perfect for enjoying a cup of tea or a glass of wine ( if you prefer 😉) after a long day exploring.

Nothing! Just lovely!

The closeness to Potes was very good but unfortunaltey it was next to the main road. There was sufficient parking for all guests. The garden was really nice to sit in and enjoy after a long hike and the room was spacious and kept very clean and made up each day with fresh towels on our 3rd days stay. Tea and coffee is available but it's not complementary unlike other places we stayed, but there is a kettle which we used to fill our flask with hot water for our hikes.

Sadly the breakfast didn't meet our expectations given the positive reviews. It costs 12 euros per person and on our first day we only received some small pieces of fruit cut up on a plate, followed by a plain omelette (no ham or cheese) with a slice of tomato, one slice of toast and a lemon yoghurt in a glass to finish. Everything was brought out bit by bit so we didn't know what to expect as we finished each bit and sadly Elena became very upset when we asked for some butter for the toast and an extra slice of toast and jam as we were still hungry at the end. We were doing long strenuous hikes each day so we were needed some substance to our breakfast. She said nobody else had ever complained before, but we weren't complaining we just wanted some more toast which she couldn't offer us as the bread didn't arrive until 9am, but as it was toasted and not fresh we couldn't understand why she didn't have another loaf in reserve?! Clearly we were only meant to have one piece. The bread did arrive so she reluctantly gave us another piece and a packet jam (not home made). We were expecting some pastries or homemade cakes and a more extensive breakfast of delights for the price and the reviews! We felt it was really poor value in comparison to all the other places we stayed in the Picos which offered fabulous and plentiful breakfasts with great choice, homemade pastries and preserves and they also offered us extra toast and coffee automatically. We didn't eat breakfast again here as we were disappointed that Elena seemed so put out that we asked for more toast, so it spoilt our stay. Also the house is next to the main road into Potes, so in our room we couldn't leave the windows and shutters open at night.
