Loved this little secluded guest house in Otaru. Warm and cosy and clean. It met all our expectations. We were not after a 5 hotel experience, but wanted a nice comfortable bed. Staff were terrific, bed comfortable and the whole guest house just had a friendly feel. Even the non attached showers and toilets just seemed to match the cosy feel.

The location is excellent, but what stands out the most is the warm and friendly hospitality from the staff. The room was spotless, and since I visited during winter, I was especially pleased that the heater kept the entire space cozy, including the bathroom, which made the shared accommodations even more comfortable. If I return to Otaru, I will definitely choose to stay here again.

Opopo Home was in a great location walkable to all the key sights in Otaru. We thought the host was very helpful and friendly. The common areas and the rooms are all clean as a whistle. We liked the mix of traditional furnishings (beautiful handcrafted tatami matting) with mod cons for heating, coffee making and a fridge.

The only thing I would prefer is a cotton towel rather than the microfibre towels that were provided. But the microfibre did the job perfectly ok.

Very comfortable room, and we were able to leave our bags there after checking out while we explored Otaru a little more.

Extremely clean, well kept, very comfortable. The room was so nicely decorated and very spacious, I was surprised in a good way.

We came for the winter festival and the home was very close to the canal! Host was very responsive to questions and gave lots of local recommendations which we appreciated. Building was clean, room was enough to fit us two + carry ons, and heating/ac could be customized.

It's about a 12-minute walk from Otaru station which is on the longer side on a good day, but during the snowy winter the streets aren't kept super clear so it feels even longer with luggage.

Everything! Owners are very friendly, amazing and helpful. Rooms are so nice and cozy. Common area is lovely and cute too. Quite area, easily accessible to train station n the canal area. I would love to stay longer but timing doesn't allowed. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Otaru. Highly recommended! Thank you so much!!
