"Very welcoming"

8.0

Physically the place is a bit worn out, BUT this is well compensated by the friendliness of the owners, the extreme proximity of ski hill (1 min walk!), and the general functionality of the place. Lockers for skis. Good introduction to Japanese style pension, with common amenities. Generally calm. Overheated when we were there, but I think people like that here. So for Japanese experience with access to Furano ski, don't look elsewhere!

"Fine but a little worn at the edges"

6.0

This is the only Ryokan I have stayed in, so it's a little hard to judge. Location for skiing is excellent, a bit out of the way in summer (as we were), but buses run right outside the door, so not really a problem. There are a few decent places to eat a short walk away, the Ryokan also does dinner which we didn't get a chance to try as we were unsure of our return time each night. Our room was fairly large, plenty of room for our bedmats, table and much more. It included a giant heater and the window which opened had 3 panes of glass, so should be warm enough in winter. In summer, no aircon, so it was pretty hot and uncomfortable overnight. The host spoke some English, just enough to get by. The price I paid for the room was certainly fair, the only thing that would stop me returning is the lack of A/C as we are whimps when it comes to sleeping in anything resembling warm temperatures.

"Really friendly - a true taste of Japan"

10.0

A lovely little Japanese guesthouse run by a really welcoming couple. Good location for skiing as it is just by the ski lifts. It is a perfect place if you want to feel like you are staying in Japan as the meals are nice home cooked Japanese food. But it is not a posh hotel, it is a guesthouse so bear that in mind.

"Best Location. Very warm welcome"

8.0

My Japanese friend booked this place for me when I asked for near ski lift location. This location was so convenient right in front of Kitanomine ski lift and Lavender shuttle bus stop was 10 m away. The Japanese landlords were very nice and friendly couple. The husband spoke English well. Both were very helpful providing me all info I needed (ski, transportation, dining). On the last day took photo of me before I went out skiing and gave me a print when I check out. My room was basic typical Japanese B&B. Very clean room and futon. Solid safe box, TV and kettle provided. Even there was no wifi but free internet at lobby was good enough for me. The wall was a bit too thin but it was quiet place most of the time except just before breakfast time when everyone getting up. Shared toilet and bath room was very clean. Japanese style hot bath was very good after long day skiing. Breakfast was above average. You can choose between western and Japanese. I took Japanese everyday. They opened for dinner too but I ate out everyday. I was very happy with everything during my stay and definitely stay there again on my next trip. The only con I found was 10pm door closing time. But this is common among Japanese B&B. Even I could asked to come in later but I was had early night for better ski next day! Furano night life was quiet anyway.
