good location great host - Taka and family home away from home

The owners were extremely nice and smart with actions that touched my heart. For that reason I am writing this review. My msg regarding pickup didn't get to them on time but they manage to find me anyways at kamishiyo station, I was also offered rides to various locations and offered a ride to the station on the last day where it was raining heavy. the house is really beautiful and so was the neighborhood. I especially liked the bamboo made garbage can, the curtain slider and the hammock chairs. There is a really nice curry shop near the station that offers 4 kinds of unique curries on 1 plate which is different from the traditional Japanese curry. There is also a sento/hotspring around the location, as well as many ski resorts. I imagine this would be a fantastic place to stay during winter if you like skiing. But in my opinion as a frequent traveler, hakuba/nagano is really underrated during its green season, its very beautiful everywhere. I strongly suggest your choice to stay at this pension for your travels.

the bed was in old European style with smaller sizes and traditional mattress. if you are from north America like me you might enjoy 1 queen size bed instead for couples with a nice mattress (if for longer term stays) But never the less its not a big issue as I understand that this set up is quite perfect for ski guests in winter as their arms and legs might be numb and requires singular bed and extension space. everything else is fine and cozy as expected of japan.

Lovely accomodation, cosy and very clean. Taka, the owner is very helpful during our stay. Breakfast variety is good and delicious. Very affordable b&b and would not think twice about booking here on my next Hakuba visit.

We loved staying at Pension Bonnard! The staff made us feel so welcome, they were so friendly. The breakfast and dinner were also very good. The location was great, just a couple minutes walk to the ski lift.
