Well catered for at breakfast time by Brian and his wife. Nice choice of breakfast items and very good coffee. Easy, free parking near to the guesthouse. Comfortable bed. Good shower.

Room in need of redecorating. Very basic and a little old fashioned just now.

"Great guesthouse"

Easy check in. Hosts were unfailingly friendly and helpful. Wonderful sea view while having breakfast. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented. Our room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. I really appreciated the fan heater coming in from the chilly evening. Can highly recommend.

"It was a bed for the night, nothing more, nothing less a would not stay there again"

The location

The room was tired and not that clean. The TV did not work, which I told Jackie the cleaner about on the Friday morning, she said she would contact Mitch. It hadn't been fixed on the Friday evening so I texted Mitch with no response. I did over hear Mitch as I was heading out on the Saturday morning saying the bed in room 5 was broken and the TV in my room was broken. No comms to say it had been fixed but got back into the room to find the TV on. I contacted the hotel through booking.com, their email and phoned Mitch before I arrived (left a message). I didn't get a response from any of these. Also didn't get a response from Booking.com when I contacted them about having no responses to my comms. The towels had seen better days and the wardrobe was so lightweight that it nearly fell on me when I opened the doors. The South African couple that seemed to run the day to day things were lovely but overall the customer service from Mitch was severely lacking, the 2 star rating is in line with what I experienced.

"Almost great, one important amendment needed however."

The staff were super friendly, the location was perfect for my elderly mum, close to the beach, superb view from rooms 1 or 2, all rooms are well equipped, beds comfy.

The boss initially wanted to shift us to his own house (another guest house) away from the beach and amenities due to an issue with a boiler. I didn't like that he felt it reasonable to shift us to a different location altogether. After phoning him back and telling him that location wouldn't work for my elderly mum he relented and said he'd show us both locations. I said right ok but I was a bit miffed that he felt that that would have be ok, it alarmed me a bit. I also didn't like that when we arrived at Hunters he chose which rooms to put us in right there and then on the stop, rather than take us to the rooms we specifically chose and paid for online, it seemed like the rooms we chose weren't set aside for us. That was rather suspect to me especially as all the rooms online are different sizes, at different prices, you choose and pay for them specifically. The boss should have known which room I paid for and not put me in a lesser room, a non-sea view room of his choosing. Being honest, that left a bad taste in my mouth! Maybe it was a harmless oversight on his part but it didn't feel that way and I have to admit as the night went on, it began to irritate me. That said when I raised the issue with the staff the next day it was put right without quibble and they kindly offered to refund me £30 for the view so that was decent and fair. I moved into the room I had paid for, well actually not the exact one I paid for because again the boss chose a different room from the one I actually paid for, but at least it had a sea view and it was very nice. I personally think if your choosing specific rooms online and paying different amounts for all of those rooms you have to be given the exact room you pay for online. If you can't do that you need to change your online booking page!
