The people were incredibly nice and really cool to see they did a lot of upcyclying to deal with the town’s waste problem

My friend and I stayed in the tents - these are cheap enough that we could have a tent each, which was perfect. Love that each tent has a little outdoor area with a lamp and mosquito coil, and a fan included (which is necessary!). There's also a tarp over the tent and surrounds, so even if it pours with rain (which it did), you stay dry and can keep the fly open for some air. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and let us store our bags the whole last day of our stay before our night bus. The little kitchen hut was great. Loved that it felt a little more rustic, but was still comfortable and secure, and only a short walk into the main town area, or the public beach. I didn't make use of the breakfast, but did have an incredible coffee there thanks to one of the staff members! showers and toilets also very cute and clean.

You'll need a double adapter if you want to charge your phone and use the fan at the same time overnight. Be aware that there are dogs in Bacalar (not in the property, and all very tame), and they will often bark at night, so you may need earplugs. Mosquitos are a thing, so bring spray! None of this deterred from my enjoyment of my stay however :)

Free water was easy to fill. Two hancooks on the rooftop. Staff was friendly.

My fan in dormitory didn't work. Loud neighbors, their children scream until midnight or they play loud music. Lots of stray dogs in the area.

The staff are friendly people, beautiful yard, great location and everything was set thoughtfully.
