Beautiful facilities, garden and quiet location

This was our 3rd time staying at Heimat guesthouse. The location of the property is convenient and close to all shops. The person meeting and giving us the keys was friendly upon arrival and arranged for tables and cutlery to be set up at the braai area for a family get together the next day, which we appreciated.

We were unsure why we were not given the "Deluxe Triple Room" (Fantast) that we booked. We were given the "Serenity" room. No reason or explanation was given? This room was clearly for only 2 people, a single bed was put in the middle of the room to make it look suitable for 3 people. Only towels for 2 people, only coffee mugs for 2 people. I completed the guest register online, so it was clear that there were 3 guest staying for the weekend. The "Serenity" room has rats in the roof that you can hear at night scratching, I had to plug a hole with toilet paper to prevent them from getting in the room, SCARY!! The breakfast service staff was so unfriendly it seemed that it was a punishment for them to serve us breakfast, they did not greet us at all, not even a smile when we had to greet them first and we had to ask them what the breakfast was after no one said anything. All this was only after the first night and we still had 1 night to go. Did not sleep well with guests staying next door from us, standing outside our room talking until about 3am in the morning, clearly not adhering to the quiet time rule to consider other guests on the property and the rats again trying to come through the roof. Same unfriendly service again from the kitchen staff the 2nd morning. Checking out I called for someone to hand over the keys but found no one in sight. I had to give the keys to the gardener and ask him to open the gate for us when we left, he was friendly and helped. Our previous stays at Heimat was pleasant, however the standard of this guesthouse has gone down and is not what it used to be. Sadly, we will be trying another guesthouse when we visit Welkom again.

Room temperature, bathroom facilities. Room spacing. Receptionist was superb. Caring
