Brasilia

This was the cleanest rental room I have ever stayed in--the bathroom sparkled at any hour of the day. The hostess (Lina) was beyond incredible--guiding us to places to buy things we needed, to places to get good food, to places to visit as sightseers, and so forth. The location was very good--easy walking distance to the downtown areas, to significant historical sites, to the waterfront, to tour pickup points, and most importantly, to the location of the conference we were attending--2 blocks away. The building was older, but very well maintained. Our stay at Brasilia was fabulous in just about every way.

The room was a little small and besides the bed, a sink, a bidet and a single straight-back chair, didn't offer any place to sit comfortably. But then we didn't spend much time in the room other than sleeping.

Classic old-school Portuguese style with modern conveniences: good WiFi, comfortable bed, good heating, etc. Right off Av. da Liberdade and Praça do Marquês de Pombal, lovely neighborhood. Pastelaria Coimbra just next door for morning coffee. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Cute little room, with old fashioned balcony, with a sink and a bidet and a standup closed and 2 book ends. Full Toilet and shower and sink opposite our room that only us and another room would share. VERY CLEAN, and very well maintained by an amazing in-house manager LINA. Lina greeted me with open arms, and helped with tourist travel info, and the do's and don'ts through our google translate app. Lina was very friendly, and efficient and helpful, and accommodating after returning late one nite. Thankful for Elevator! Close to Metro, restaurants (& Mcdonalds), mini-grocery shop, and a 30 min walk to Bairro Alto- the gaybourhood and TIme Out Market, Lisbon Castle and all the sites- just one bus 727, 738 straight to Belem.

Its not that i didn't like it, it was just different to see a bidet and a sink in a bedroom but it made it more quirky after we got used to it. - We didn't like having to leave our key at the front desk when we went out, and having to buzz in whatever time we came back- it's just not fair on Lina or the staff if we come back in the early hours of the morning after a nite out. It felt like we were being supervised for not having our own access, and the trust factor of leaving our personal stuff in the room, without previously knowing the staff, is not a comfortable feeling. Lina is amazing and trustworthy, but we were lucky with her in that way.
