Shiv Palace

Lovely roof terrace overlooking lake and town. Rooms were big in size with a nice balcony. Owners were friendly and welcoming. Good food available on terrace for breakfast and dinner.

Room wasn't particularly clean. There was littler on the floor from the previous occupant and the sink and toilet had not been cleaned since previous occupant. Room was also very hot and hard to cool down.

The staff were very nice and the views from the room and location are great. They were flexible with my arrival date.

The main point was the cleanliness. The place looked clean at first sight. However, the second night I found many ants in my bed. The staff changed the bedsheets but I still requested to change hotels the next day. Second, there is no division between the shower and the toilet and sink in the bathroom so anytime you take a shower there is a mess. Also, there were no toiletries or soap in the bathroom. The reviews are very inflated.

Large clean room with balcony, good location 2 mins walk from pedestrian bridge over the lake.

Some early morning noise from nearby temple- chanting and drumming. This is India though and we soon got used to it!

Near by main attraction of the city and staff was very good.

The location, the size of the room, the balcony, the staff were all brilliant. The rooftop restaurant was also tasty with a menu containing Rajastani specials. Overall a lovely place to stay, with great views and friendly staff. They also provide a laundry service at competitive rates.

The bathroom was a bit messy, it’s a wet room, so make sure to have your toilet business done before anyone takes a shower. There also isn’t enough hot water in the tank for two showers, so there’s some waiting time in between. We visited in winter and the room was quite cold at night with no heating. A cold bedroom suits many people, but we were split over it.

Tremendous value and great quality accomodation. The staff were very welcoming, special mention to Bhupendra who was a great help and made our stay perfect. Rooms were a good size, location is great and the rooftop restaurant serves tasty meals!

Location excellent No breakfast

Linen on bed consisted of a 2 piece bottom sheet. Very thin. I pillow. Horrible thick acrylic blanket. I paper thin towel each for 3 days Showerhead that needs replacing, i.e water came out of top, sides and the odd drop or two came straight down. Otherwise we had to use the bucket & jug to wash. Sign saying not to flush tissue down toilet but rubbish bin not emptied for the 3 days & nights we stayed. No servicing or cleaning of the room at all during our stay. No glasses, no cups. No Jug to make tea or coffee. Wifi was available Elderly couple/hosts who we encountered daily were very pleasant and altho their English wasn't great we communicated easily enough with lots of smiles. The lady was particularly delightful. Bottled water was freely available to us and we were very appreciative. We felt very welcome but we feel that the owners/hosts have no idea of what is involved in running a guest house. The situation is perfect, wonderful views, and it would be so easy to turn this into a Top 10 place to stay. Sadly we won't return and neither will we be recommending it. The Shiv Palace we stayed in was nothing like the photos on the website.
