Sahi River View Guest house

This is a quaint and tidy guesthouse in the old-fashioned Varanasi style - better than a backpackers place but not crazy fancy, which was all we wanted. Entrance is tucked into a little side lane, and balcony overlooks the action of Assi Ghat. Our room for two was simple but clean and secure, and sufficient for our needs. The staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. A nice retreat from the hubbub of the city!

There are many steps up to the hotel so might be tough for mobility-impaired guests (although it looked as if they were renovating some downstairs rooms closer to street level for 2025). Assi Ghat used to be a quiet area but is now a major domestic tourist site - mornings can be loud and there is a lot of traffic (foot and road). It can be a bit of a circus. On the upside, the street food is excellent and locals are unfazed by foreign tourists - the vibe is friendly.

The welcome is very professional yet warm. The highlight of this hotel is its manager, who is very helpful, along with the entire team, always attentive. The location is exceptional, and the food is delicious.

Entry through a lane which is dirty, entry to the common place of the building is also old and worn out. Some renovations are also going on.
