Nimal's House

Beautiful homestay with clean rooms and the friendliest hosts! Thank you to mr and mrs Nimal for their wonderful hospitality and amazing breakfasts! They organised a scooter rental and even did our laundry for free! We would return in a heartbeat!

We booked Nimal’s house last minute on the day of arrival, for one night and we wish we would have stayed longer. Her and her husband’s hospitality was amazing. They let us check in early and offered us an iced tea welcome drink, which on a hot day was very refreshing. The room and bathroom were emaculately clean, well lit and well ventilated (even in our room without AC) which we see as a huge plus in Sri Lanka. The location was great to both Dickwella beach and Turtle Point. The breakfast (additional charge) was the cherry on top of the cake - excellent and very unique! String hoppers with omelette, sambal and dhal, coconut honey pancakes, and a huge fruit plate and tea/coffee - we were full for the rest of the day! Overall a short but wonderful experience.

The whole family is super friendly and helpful. The room is clean and spacious. We could borrow masks for the turtle beach. The breakfast was phenomenal! We booked the room without AC, but since it was too hot for us, we could easily switch to an AC room. Thanks for the great stay! We would definitely come back. It was a warm and welcoming stay here and we even extended our stay 😊

Everything was perfect! The hosting family was very nice they always prepared ice tea for us and it was the best I have ever had. The place was clean and well equipped. They even helped us organize a tuktuk to our next destination.

We loved it here. Nimal and Mrs Nimal were so helpful and friendly offering advice to us for our trip both in Dikwalla and for the other places we are visiting. They even spent time playing board games with our children which is a challenge at the best of times. The room was great for our family, 2 big adjoining bedrooms, a massive kitchen and bathroom. We also had a lovely balcony where we ate the delicious breakfast Mrs Nimal made. Definitely coming back here if we come back to Sri Lanka!

We loved our stay in Nimals house. It was so nice and interesting to talk to Kamani and Nimal. The sri lankan breakfast was really delicious! They lent us swimming goggles to see the turtles which was absolutely amazing. We felt very welcomed and would have loved to stay longer:)

Had a wonderful stay here! The family are so welcoming and helpful, they organised various things for me and gave great recommendations e.g. turtle beach, food spots etc. the location is perfect to explore Dickwella beach which is at your door step and Bathigama beach a very short walk away. I chose this over staying in Hiriketiya as i wanted quieter beaches (not full of surfers) and that’s exactly what i got. You don’t miss out on anything as Hiriketiya is easily reachable for a short ride or even a walk as i did once. The room/bathroom was exceptionally clean and well maintained, probably the cleanest i experienced in Sri Lanka. Mosquito net over the bed is a nice bonus. Would definitely stay again for the standard of accommodation, location and hospitality of the owners. Thanks for a nice stay!

I had a wonderful stay at this lovely house. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, with a nice garden and a charming style that instantly makes you feel at ease. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind. The location is quite good —just a short distance from a stunning beach with fine sand and perfect waves, ideal for both relaxation and fun in the water. The owners are truly exceptional. They personally take care of everything and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. Their recommendations for local activities and directions can be very helpful, and they were always available to assist when needed. A highlight of my stay was the breakfast—delicious, high-quality, and so generous that skipping lunch was an easy option. Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with great hospitality and a perfect beach nearby. I would love to return!

Lovely friendly family who were very welcoming. They helped us get to Ella by arranging transport with one of their friends. The property is about 50m from the beautiful beach and a short walk into the town centre. We were also able to use their kitchen to prepare food.

The family was extremely friendly and nice. The location was perfect for both Dickwella beach and Hiriketiya beach by scooter. A/C and Wifi worked well, our room had a comfy desk to work from home. Also nice garden surrounding the house. Great hospitality, highly recommended!
