Starfish Cabbana

Starfish is the best place I’ve stayed at while in Sri Lanka - you should stay here if you can. The rooms are lovely and clean with air conditioning and a nice shower, and the garden is a great place to relax in the shade away from the rest of Arugam Bay. But the main thinking is that Tari the host is the just the best most welcoming guy. He’s a brilliant cook and makes a different amazing breakfast each day as well as recommending where to eat. He also will do anything to help you out while you’re his guest: for us he repaired my friend’s board fins for cheap without us having to do anything, and also took us out (for free) with him on scooters to see the national park, some temples and watch the sunset. He’s just such a nice guy who loves to host and makes you feel as welcome as possible. Thanks so much Tari!

If you're a surfer looking for a place to drop your backpack before heading to the beach, Starfish might be all you need. The staff are friendly, there's a nice jungle vibe around the property, and the rooms are reasonably clean, if a little sandy.

My room had no place to unpack, not even a nightstand beside the bed. Suitcase had to go on the floor. There was also some kind of repeated banging noise. Might have been the pipes, idk, but it was loud. Another issue that came up was people burning trash nearby. This went on all day and the room and patio were filled with the smell of smoke.

My stay at starfish cabbana was so good I had to go back twice. The quality and the cleanness of the facilities are very high compared to other places in Arugam bay and the garden is a beautiful oasis where you can relax with the owners dog Maya. Thari, the host, goes above and beyond to make sure you have a pleasant stay. Him and his staff are always there to help when you need anything. Also the breakfast is incredibly delicious. I wouldn’t pass up the offer to stay here, especially if you’re into surfing as it’s one of the closest locations to main point beach.

The WiFi was slow, but apparently they fix it our last day, so maybe now it will be different.

We truly loved our stay. The location was very peaceful and just a short walk from the beach – perfect for a relaxing getaway. What stood out the most was the host’s incredible availability and willingness to help with anything we needed. The room was comfortable and with only four rooms in the entire space, the atmosphere was calm and quiet – just what we were looking for. There were quite a few mosquitoes during our stay, but the host went out of their way to get us mosquito repellent, which was really thoughtful and made a big difference. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with truly attentive hosting.

Tharidu, the son of the owner manages the place. He is a very kind person! He made us a lovely breakfast every morning and ensured that we had a wonderful stay. He even did our laundry without any charges. We highly recommend to stay at starfish cabbana!

Nous avons récemment séjourné ici à 5 min de la rue principale et à 5 min de la plage et du point de surf Main point c’est l’endroit idéal. Nous avons été absolument ravi de mon expérience. Dès notre arrivée, nous avons été accueilli par un hôte adorable qui a fait tout son possible pour rendre notre séjour agréable. Son attention aux détails et sa gentillesse ont vraiment fait la différence. Les petits déjeuners étaient très bons. Les chambres sont entourés de magnifiques plantes vertes qui ajoutent une touche de sérénité et de beauté à l'environnement. Chaque coin est soigneusement aménagé, ce qui crée une atmosphère chaleureuse et accueillante. Il y a également une cuisine ouverte à disposition avec le nécessaire pour cuisiner. Je travaillais également en remote et le wifi fonctionnait parfaitement bien!
