Berghouse and Cottages

Wunderbare Lage, guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen im Royal Natal. Sehr saubere Unterkunft und nettes Personal. Super Mahlzeitenservice und feine Küche.

Wir waren 2 Paare und hatten das älteste Cottage gebucht. War sehr eng zu viert. Würde nächstes Mal 2 einzelne Cottages buchen und zusammen essen

Dinner was excellent, varied food but always felt homemade and was very tasty. Breakfast was also good, less varied but still nice. View was amazing and the location is perfect and calm. The bed was very comfortable and the showers were also great. The fireplace is a very cosy cherry on top (in cottage 9).

The cupboard where the plates and cutlery are stored is very old and a bit stinky and that made everything inside the cupboard stink also. Also there’s no water tap other than the bathroom which is not very handy, and no airco or fan so can get very hot in summer months. If it had a small furnished kitchen block, it would have been a great improvement.

Wir hatten das Cottage Nr. 10, das ganz offensichtlich in den letzten Jahren neu aufgebaut wurde (auf dem. Luftbild ist an der Stelle noch ein Haus ohne Dach zu sehen). Alles war modern und stilvoll eingerichtet. Ein frischer Blumenstrauß auf dem Tisch begrüßte uns. Die Mahlzeiten, die ans Cottage gebracht werden, waren toll zubereitet und reichlich. Der Ausblick auf die umliegenden Berge und besonders auf das Amphitheater ist grandios. Der kleine Swimmingpool am Haus bot Erfrischung und hätte auch den Weg zum Hauptpool erspart, wäre dieser nicht eines der liebevollen Highlights der Anlage, das wir uns nicht entgehen lassen wollten.

Gerne hätten wir bei der Ankunft an der Rezeption ein paar Hinweise zu den Angeboten bekommen. So erfuhren wir am Folgetag, dass wir den Reitausflug hätten gestern buchen müssen. Es wurde uns jedoch das Reitangebot der nahegelegenen Matusi Mountain Lodge empfohlen, wo wir dann ein Sunset Horse Riding mit schönem Picknick im Sonnenuntergang hatten. Auch den Aufstieg auf den Matusi Peak können wir empfehlen.

The location of the cottages is absolutely spectacular, with unparalleled views of the Drakensberg Mountains. The grounds and walking trails are superb and the cottage (on one level) was spacious and very tastefully furnished.

The access road to the cottage is nothing short of treacherous in wet conditions, and therefore it is essential to have a 4x4 vehicle. The food delivered to the room didn't really work for us as firstly there was no choice of menu at all, the quality of the food was at best average and quite repetitive. Leaving your leftover food and dirty plates, glasses and cutlery in the room overnight for collection also was not ideal. The cottage was not equipped with a kitchen sink which was a real problem given our previous observation of dirty plates etc left in the room overnight. We had one day of torrential rain which highlighted two other problems: The veranda roof to the front aspect leaked heavily, saturating the sun loungers and table and chairs. Secondly the flue for the wood burner dripped water continually on to the corrugated metal roof making a very irritating noise that disturbed our sleep.

Wir haben uns super wohl gefühlt. Jeder ist für sich in einem einzelnen cottage. Unsere Nummer 10 war ein Traum: Sehr modern eingerichtet, bequemes Bett. Die Küche war zudem sehr gut ausgestattet. Unser gebuchtes Essen (Frühstück und Abendessen) war sehr lecker und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Insbesondere danke an die lieben Frauen, die uns das Essen zum cottage gebracht haben. Wir kommen sehr gern wieder, danke.

Die Kommunikation mit den Gastgeberm verlief ein wenig holprig. Aber ansonsten alles gut.
