The bed was very hard unfortunately

Plenty of parking, clean room with everything we needed, perfect location. Lovely staff lovely breakfast

Lots of stairs.

Nice clean room & great breakfast. Melissa is a lovely friendly person.

I couldn't find fault with the room. Maybe put a small fridge in?

Breakfast was nice. Bed was comfortable.

Located close to the centre of town and attractions.

Was a bit dated. Curtains didn't do much to keep the light out.

The overall atmosphere was homely, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the owner was very friendly. Breakfasts were well prepared. All in all, I was very happy with my stay at Ashfields and would be happy to book again.

Its in a decent walking to a few places to get some food and there are a couple of shops in walking distance aswell

The best part was leaving as soon as we possibly could without having to speak to the horrendous and rude landlady for one more minute.

Landlady has an horrific attitude, zero customer skills, loves to shout "wow " and "rude" at paying guests and then repeatedly told lies about the rooms being unsuitable for a couple and made out the ceilings were too low for two tall gents in our party, (which was untrue, we believe this was part of a plan to extract more money from our group perhaps) We asked to see the rooms to make a judgement, and she refused until she was good and ready. All because of a genuine error on our booking that inadvertently listed just one adult per room rather than 2, which led to her confronting us in reception within 5 mins of arriving after a 5 hr drive. She threatened to charge us extra which we asked for clarification on, but she wouldn't specify why or how much, she refused to give us a refund and left us no alternative but to leave the property after just one night, thankfully we found much nicer accommodation just up the road. We would have liked to have left immediately but needed to try and secure rooms elsewhere first. We did try and approach her a second time to discuss what she was trying to charge us extra, but again we're met with "I'll tell you when I'm ready"... control freak mentality perhaps. It appears from reading many previous reviews on TripAdvisor and Booking.com (check out their lowest rated reviews) that there's a common theme with travellers who find fault there being subjected to her long and lengthy rants and abuse both in person and online when she replies. Avoid this place like the plague because if anything whatsoever is queried or questioned, or if you stand up to her then woe betide you!
