La Rosamarina

There was nothing we could fault. Our host Franco could not do enough for us. Although no meals were included there was always fresh coffee, crackers and always an invitation to share his table. The room was very comfortable with a gorgeous sitting room and private verandah to enjoy the quietness of his magnificent garden. It has a very homely feel and we loved Franco's choice of italian songs playing in the background in the afternoon whilst we drank our coffee and enjoyed the gentle rumbling of the volcano. The location was within walking distance to all restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. The island is small so the atmosphere is very communal where everyone knows each other.

We could not fault anything. We believe that sometimes mosquitos could be a problem but there was plenty of repellent and anti mosquito plugs on hand although we had no problem.

We liked everything. La Rosamarina is a little paradise on a special island. The garden is just beautiful, and the bungalow we rented was nicely decorated. Ivana and Franco are wonderful hosts, very friendly and well-informed. The beach is 150 m away, and the village is a 10 min walk. We were only two days on Stromboli, but I can imagine that if you would like to be “off the grid” or need to “de-stress” for a while (or write a book, for example), this is the perfect place.

Was even better than the photos. The hosts are charming and wonderful people. Ivana has exquisite taste as a decorator, curating each space with care and joy. I couldn’t stop taking photos of every beautiful detail. It made it unnecessary to leave the house! Like they say, you are really staying at a home rather than just a hotel. They think of everything you could possibly need.

Very friendly hosts with a lovely dog

This is one of our best stays in Sicily, and we stayed in many places. The house is so beautiful, full of character and there is a surrounding garden full of fruit trees, flowers and plants. Its calm, quiet and relaxing. The hosts are so helpful. Ivana told us everything about the island when we arrived, she told us all the best restaurants and which tourist traps to avoid, very genuine tips. She also lend us everything we needed in terms of torches for the hike up to Stromboli, umbrella and mat for the beach to not get burnt on the sand. We will definetly come back in the future!

Poor experience at high price

We decided to make a trip to Stromboli at short notice because of the heightened activity of the volcano. We only had one day available for our stay and didn't make a lot of plans. Our choice of La Rosamarina was perfect because the couple that runs the place was extremely friendly and helpful, advised us on the routes to the volcano, recommended excellent places to eat, helped us with ferry times, and even lent us torches and windbreakers. The rooms of La Rosamarina are basic, but the house is charming and the garden is beautiful.

The bathroom was tiny, but completely acceptable for a one-night-stay.

The garden is a little paradise!
