Thambara Resort

I booked an A/C room with balcony for 3 nights. In general everything was alright, the room, the bathroom, the estate, the service.

There were some minor things which could have been developed - A/C was not so strong - The balcony did not belong only to my room, so anyone could have used it, literally coming-going just in front of my room, this means extra noise and decreased privacy, since the door to the balcony also made of distorted glass (and no sound insulation) - Motion sensor at the front gate which talk until the person does not move away from the zone (some ppl just can't comprehend that others may get disturbed by the noise, so they kept standing in the zone) - The reaction time to my messages were always slow

I recently stayed at Thambara Resort in Polonnaruwa with my wife, and I must say – it was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had! The location is perfect – just about 100 meters from both the Polonnaruwa railway station and bus station. It’s also very close to the main town, with lots of restaurants and supermarkets nearby, which made our stay even more convenient. What really made our trip special was the hospitality. Mr. Priyantha, the owner, is an incredibly friendly and welcoming person. He made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The hotel staff were equally amazing – super helpful, polite, and always ready to assist with a smile. The rooms were spotless, very comfortable, and gave off a luxurious vibe. We were honestly surprised by how well-maintained and beautifully designed everything was. You can truly relax and enjoy your time here. If you’re planning a visit to Polonnaruwa, I highly recommend staying at Thambara Resort. It’s a hidden gem with top-notch service, comfort, and hospitality.

This is my second time in Thambara Resort, and wow, it is more better than before! Now they have new staff, and they are amazing, really. There is one old lovely uncle in the staff – and he is a chef. But no, not just a chef, the best chef in Sri Lanka! We have the breakfast in the resort, and his food is just incredible. I never eat something so delicious in my life here. Also, the rooms now are more comfortable, really perfect to relax after explore Polonnaruwa. The owner and the staff are very kind people. The owner even come to pick up us from the railway with his own vehicle. This is not something you see in every place! They make us feel like home, and our journey was unforgettable because of them. If you go to Polonnaruwa, you must stay here! A perfect experience! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
