Bathroom a bit dirty

The value for money was great; for a very standard price of US $15 per night, I got a spacious (though simple) double room with a balcony that had great views of the river and hill. The bedding and towels were clean too.

Located on the other side of the Nam Ou river, it's a slightly further walk to all the stores and the popular restaurants. There were also lots of ants on the floor, but after all you're in remote place and there's no point complaining. Also beware that this place doesn't provide soap.

We got the corner room which has a view towards the mountains and the river. But the room got that old dust smell and the blanket is quite covered with dust so I got my skin rashes and allergies. The facilities are meh and also the staffs are not very nice.

Whatever others experienced with this "wonderful" family, I did not. It's low season and this town is nearly empty, but I've been traveling Laos for weeks and this property in a touristed city KNOWS how it's supposed to work. They're not a remote village that isn't honed for tourists. I messaged in advance on Booking.com and also WhatsApp when I would be arriving, around 1pm. Never heard back from property. Arrive at that time, no one around except a very grumpy mother/grandmother who resented my presence. She wanted me to sign a log book, but it was full and she didn't know how to start a new page, and I don't read Lao and couldn't help. Finally she just gave me a key. Room fine except WiFi didn't work. Inquired with property on Booking.com. Internet fine at separately owned restaurant 100 meters away and other places around town, therefore it wasn't a citywide issue. It was a property issue. Only one other couple was staying at property. They had same WiFi problem and used cel instead. Property managers were missing in action. At some point WiFi came on but too volatile and slow to be functional. I messaged again on Booking.com asking who I should pay because I hadn't paid person I gave key. Never heard back. After one night, I booked different place and left this property. Bad vibe and no response on Booking or WhatsApp. Left cash on table in room beside key. Took photo. As I left to walk to different lodging with functional internet, of course that's when two people I hadn't seen before notice. I showed photo of cash on table but they ran to room to confirm while I waited. Maybe property finds a groove in high season, but I was happy to leave this place.

I got bitten many times because there were a lot of ants.
