Amazing value. And the location is spot on. Right in the heart of the Polonnaruwa Temple ruins area. Across the bus stop. The homestay is run by a very friendly, welcoming family. You can rent bycicles there, which are perfect for a visit of the Temple sites which are scattered around the old city. They also offer a very good Elephant safari (which we didn't take, but the stories in the guest book speak for themselves). The rooms are basic but fine. With a good ceiling fan and good beds. The owner also has a gem shop, where they sell their own mined gems. Lovely atmosphere and don't get me started on the Rice and Curry diner we had. The old lady is a wonderful cook.

For this price, there is nothing that comes to mind.

The owner is a good man who waited for me at the bus stand, which is across from the guest house. He arranged local tours with reasonable prices.

FOOD: the sweet lady cooks heavenly, don’t miss the chance, best food in town! SAFARI: I was doubting a lot about joining one, but our host was very caring and mindful about the animals. With Kelum you can visit a less crowded place park and encounter so many elephants. It was a lovely day, and in my opinion it is more worth it than the ruins!! Overall: such lovely and attentive hosts, ready to help and give you the best time, they made our stay in polannaruwa much more beautiful.
