Host & Stay - Lowcross Cottage

The cottage was lovely—clean, well-equipped, and in a great location.

We would have happily given it a 10/10. However, our experience was marred by an uncomfortable encounter shortly after arrival. Around two hours after checking in, we heard loud banging on the door which we believe was the owner who spoke to me and my girlfriend in a rude manner regarding where we had parked. There was nothing to indicate that parking there wasn’t allowed, and had it been approached in a polite or respectful way, it wouldn’t have been an issue at all. Sadly, the tone of the exchange made the rest of our stay feel uneasy. We don’t believe paying guests should be spoken to that way. While the cottage itself was great, we won’t be returning due to how we were treated. Check in time it 4pm is also late compared to other places and could be better.

Modern, comfortable and spacious. Great setting, private and plenty of room to park. Terrace was useful to relax in the sunshine. Loved watching the alpacas.

No instructions for the microwave.

Lovely comfortable cottage

The fan in the shower room did not work so there was a strong foisty smell. There was also a delay in receiving the checkin instructions and these had to be chased up.

There wasn't anything to not like. Everything was perfect and met all of our needs. The owners are absolutely lovely

Need hooks on bathroom and bedroom doors for dressing gowns. More info to read about heating , TV local Drs etc

The place is beautiful and clean

We arrived to the post code at 6.00 pm. It was pitch black. We couldn’t find the property no lights, no signs. That made it impossible to find the property. After half an hour of turning around we called the agent and he guided us in. We received no door code by email or text so he had to guide us again on the phone. We went inside the property the heating was off and it was 7 degrees , we turned the heating on but it took 2 days to heat the house and it was time for us to leave. It was so cold we had to use the log burner , used the beds blankets wrapped around ourselves and close the door to have some heat in the living room. Went to bed our bedroom was 11 degrees like sleeping in a fridge. It’s a shame the place is beautiful but we don’t think we will be back again 🙁

The property gave us everything that we would have wished for and more.

Lack of instructions on how to use the central heating and the microwave and oven. Contact Host & Stay , they will put you in touch with the owner. Was also not happy with the £30 nonrefundable payment to cover breakages . This is something I’ve not previously come across.
