Very close to centre of York, beautifully decorated lots of space for all 10 of us

The wifi did not work

Well situated, just a 10 min walk from the station and in the centre so that all the sights are easy to access on foot . Beds very comfortable , great kitchen with a large table .The house was large with plenty of space for a large group . The dressing gowns were a lovely touch and much appreciated

While it is a quirky period building , it would benefit from a refresh. The internet was unavailable and looking at previews reviews this is not a new issue . Therefore we couldn’t access the available wireless tech . Coffee machines was broken , I realise that this is hardly a big issue , but this is marketed as luxury accommodation, so everything should work at best or at least remedied when the team are made aware and it wasn’t. The cellar cinema room smelt of damp and we decided not to use the sofa bed as the steps were so steep and it felt isolated from the main house . While overall it was clean , there was a broken wine glass ,a cup with lipstick on it and toilet brushes that were not clean .

Lovely decor and very warm. Beds really comfortable.

POSITIVES:- Great location Plenty of toilets Lots of hot water Excellent shower. Nice kitchen

NEGATIVES:- Un - inviting entrance. Awful smell of damp as soon as you enter building. No welcome package telling us how to work anything . Problems with heating Beds and dressing gowns were damp No bins in bedrooms Lighting in living room was too bright. Lamps or dimmer switch would create a warmer,inviting ambience. Lights too low in a bedroom so possibility of damaging oneself. No place to hang clothes in some bedrooms ( eg no wardrobe,coat hangers , apart from 2 which had damp housecoats on). Cellar completely unusable because of dangerous steps,damp and no windows. No ventilation in toilets. Couldn’t open windows and no fans working. Toilet in upstairs bathroom was leaking. One hairdryer not working No instructions re what to do in event of a fire. Paper coming off walls in numerous places, probably due to damp. Wi-fi not working. Disgusting fly paper in kitchen. All in all a very disappointing stay and sadly could not recommend this property to anyone. A very different place painted by the pictures online.

Excellent location, facilities were good, liked the decor,style of property.

The cleanliness on arrival was poor, the kitchen floor had not been swept or hoovered. Dust on bedroom areas. The bottom entrance level smelled of damp and the cinema room where 2 guests were due to sleep smelt of damp and foist that they ended up sleeping on the sofa in living room due to smell.

Lovely bath, nice spacious rooms. Good kitchen. Comfortable beds. Interesting building with quirky touches. Nice refurb

Stayed midweek but very noisy with revellers at night and extensive building work, starting early, ongoing directly opposite.
