Duke of Portland Boathouse on the shore of Lake Ullswater ideal for a romantic break

Perfect location, comfy place, beautiful views.

Although right next to the road it’s very peaceful at night. We slept with the balcony door open and could hear the water lapping. It was just so relaxing.

Unique & dreamy. Excellent facilities & very cosy. The views are to die for!

You can shut the front door on the property, open up the doors on to the terrace, and it's like you're in a completely different place, separate from the outside world that you've just entered from. The position right on/over the lake is completely unique, and we could see why the boathouse is so heavily photographed, drawn and painted, and it deserves it's fame in the area.

The noise of the generator was noticeable when it was running which, thankfully, didn't seem to be that often. But it is what you have to expect when it comes to a property which holds a unique position, and is therefore not able to have a mains supply.
