ISLAY House,Comfortable Home with private garden, Pencaitland, East Lothian, Scotland

We liked the private parking space close to the front door. The cottage had a warm inviting vibe, and was very spacious. The host left us bread, milk, butter, jam etc and that was so lovely. It was really easy to communicate with host if we needed to. The location was very central to the East Lothian golf courses.

Absolutely fantastic property. Brilliant location for our dog. We took him on the bus to Edinburgh and also by train. Drem station is a few min drive but worth it. The hosts were amazing and made us feel so welcome. The locals are so friendly and helpful. The Winton pub / restaurant is a must visit. The people who run the garage shop are so friendly. The forest walks are brilliant and you can walk to the pub day or night from across the rd from the property through the wood . We loved the sun house and our dog loved the garden. Absolutely recommend this house. We had a car and you would definitely need a car to get to pencaitland from the likes of the ferry port or an airport but roads are well sign posted . 10 out of 10 to the property and the hosts and the village and it's residents

Islay house had everything we wanted for our visit to Scotland.

There wasn’t anything to dislike.

Everything you needed, and more. A real home from home. Host always at hand, helpful beyond, just fabulous

Absolutely nothing everything was perfect.

Peaceful. Clean. Birdsong. Comfy bed. Netflix.

The bathroom door was truly annoying. Nowhere to hang clothes. There wasn’t a wardrobe. Cream carpets! What a nightmare with an open fire that needs cleaning out. I was very glad we left our two dogs at home. Carrying food across a cream carpet to the dining table. Upstairs tenants thumped about at odd hours in the night.

Islay House is a perfectly quiet and very comfortable home. It has everything you need for a great stay. It has its own private driveway for parking and lovely gardens and sunroom. Sandra and Ian are lovely hosts who keep Islay House spotlessly clean and well maintained. It is 12 miles from Edinburgh but just a 4 minute walk takes you to the bus stop with a direct link to Princes Street in Edinburgh (#113 bus). It's a journey of just over an hour and only costs £3.20. You couldn't park in Edinburgh for an hour for £3.20. Pencaitland itself has beautiful easy walks of varying distances which are off road. Some make use of the disused railway line. We really enjoyed our stay here. It is one of the best holiday homes and locations we have been too.

Only thing was the shower took a little getting use to for the right temp but other than that can't fault the place
