"Cleaning not to standard, foul smells"

4.0

the cost for the area is good

Hi Carley As promised here is some info from our stay. We moved onto another 200 year old property and had no issues, i'll send on the booking confirmation, it cost me £600 as we were very limited with the timescale we had. • Damp - when i say damp i'm not a damp expert so unsure if structure damp or just a damp feeling and smell, but there is a damp feeling and smell from day 1 I did say about fan so you'll have prob turned the heating off but it was an issue from day 1, the fan was also mucky and in a mucky area so i just went and bought my own • Cleanliness - the kitchen was awful, we cleaned the tops, the windowcill, the fridge, the microwave, the cooling rack, the table and more The draws and oven were not clean, the whole house was not clean, it also smells very bad of dog and/or damp, particulary in the stairs area, although the second room was not potentially used the beds still should be made up and they weren't • Maintenance - The bed slats are in need of repair in areas and the bed itself is not great. Steps leading upto to the grass area are loose, as in come away when stand on edge. The bbq is unusable and filthy The general garden maintenance is poor, leaved everywhere, it's time of year to fall, understandable but no attempt to remove and clean area made. Leaks in 2 areas The gate at the back doesn't lock or close properly, any push or pull on the gate and it opens, not safe for our dog The road noise is very bad (you can't move the house i get that but it is very loud all hours. The checkin was only at 3.40pm so not early really, when originally booked check in was 3pm (as per booking confirmation) it's since been changed to 4pm but you were behind due to football etc which is totally fine, life is busy, is what it is, think most of the issues were a build up of issues over time rather than just 1 late turnaround. Further txt details also but not enough characters for review

"Gorgeous cottage, great hot tub 😍"

10.0

Gorgeous cottage, very well decorated. We had everything we needed. The garden area looked lovely, and the hot tub was brilliant. Carley was very helpful, and responded promptly to any messages. The location was good for getting into Bristol city center easily. Lots of information was provided in advance of arriving. The damages deposit was returned promptly after confirming everything was OK on our departure.

Less what we didn't like, but something to bear in mind for future guests - the property is old, therefore it has the quirks of an older property. It is also next to a fairly busy road - a bit louder during peak times, but fine at night.

"Bristol Cottage"

7.0

The location was convenient. It’s a pretty cottage and felt safe and secure. Plenty of space for a family. Carley was friendly and helpful. She willingly reimbursed our late night trip to a local launderette to dry children’s washing because the tumble dryer was broken. The garden space is lovely.

We agree with several comments made by the previous review. A freezer compartment within the fridge is expected, although accept that none was listed and a dishwasher would be useful addition. The oven needs a clean. The garden equipment also needs some TLC. Some of the loose paving slabs on the steps are potentially dangerous, especially for children.

The place was more than accommodating for myself and my children and dogs. We had an excellent relaxing time there. My youngest daughter loved the little play area. It is definitely somewhere we will be booking again on our visits to Bristol.

"A cozy but not luxury cottage"

7.0

The property was well located in Bristol and tastefully decorated with small touches to make it feel homely. The host was very communicative prior to our arrival and was able to answer questions and helpful and accommodating with requests such as charging our electric car (just remember to ask before hand and log your electric use).

The road noise was quite loud! The listing was not correct, there was a missing baby bath, we only found out the day before, the BBQ is listed but no longer in use after asking. The property is clearly for a family, However lacks some obvious family requirements such as a freezer (there is space in the kitchen) and a dishwasher (these are not listed but would be great additions). The garden play area is nice however there is an exposed pond (not ideal for a young family) and the swing is not in the best condition. All of the garden toys/play area could do with some TLC and cleaning. The garden equipment could do with a clean also as there is a lot of mould/mildew on the cushions. Inside the property, the standard of cleaning as a luxury cottage needs to be improved - creepy crawlers are to be expected in an older, country property however the number of cobwebs and mould was not satisfactory or luxury. There was coffee left in the percolator and greasy pans in the cupboard - again, the standard of cleaning could be improved here. When we tried to use the tumble dryer, it no longer worked. We informed the host. For a luxury property, the bedding leaves some to be desired - pillow quality was low and could do with being replaced and some of the duvets were stained. The property does have cctv cameras listed (driveway ring and doorbell ring) but there are also lots of cameras around the property that may or may not be in use - these do make you feel uncomfortable as they are in places that could see hot tub and garden. We received messages after the host saw our car parked in the wrong place - I understand protecting your investment however this felt a little uncomfortable. There was one evening when the host appeared on the driveway late at night and we saw a flash of a camera and then the car drive off - we did speak to the host on this however it confirmed our uneasiness over the cameras/lack of privacy. The host did give a reason for being there.

This suited us perfectly for a short stay with 2 small children. The house was comfortable. It was good to have different toys available for the kids to play with and they loved the trampoline and tree house. The host was communicative and friendly and promptly responded to any questions we had.
