"Had a really enjoyable short break. Excellent location perfect for exploring Lathkill Dale and surrounding area"

8.0

Excellent location, well equipped, clean. Good facilities.

Advertised as two bedrooms but second twin bedroom is a rather cramped mezzanine overlooking lounge, not suitable for elderly but would be fine for a family with older children. Picnic table outside is about to go and could do with replacing.

"Loved it!"

10.0

We loved the house, it is very cozy and comfortable. Really love the fireplace, it's very relax especially after a full day hiking. The host gave a very detailed instruction of how to get to the house and how to use the lock box. We didn't have any problems with it. There is no wifi in the house and mobile connection is bad, but it's fine for us.

"Disappointing"

3.0

No coffee supplies, no basic supplies like shower wash, small long life milk for tea/coffee on arrival. Adult would have difficulty sleeping in upstairs beds. Sheets and towels very poor quality for the price.

The cottage is wonderful, if a tad small. But, it is beautifully furnished, has everything one needs, and sits in a lovely village.

Location Living room Picnic table outside

The TV didn't work as leads etc were pushed against the wall, we sorted it but no TV 1st night No wifi We didn't like the loft room, luckily I didn't hv to sleep in it..roof far too low likelihood of banging head. It just didn't work as a 2nd bedroom, lighting in he loft room poor Restrictions on parking in the courtyard, just inconvenient I thought welcome pack was going to mean at least a loaf of bread and a pint of milk Shower was very slippy, difficult to turn shower off fully

"Lovely, quiet location."

8.0

We stayed here towards the end of November 2023, The location Upper Haddon is a very isolated village in the High Peak District. Just 5 miles from the delightful town of Bakewell. A town famous for its almond marzipan based Bakewell Tart and Puddings. The cottage is in a courtyard of similar holiday let cottages. We booked this location as we wanted to visit Chatsworth House for its Christmas Extravaganza, to amazingly scenic drive 'Snake Pass,' and explore the picturesque area. The cottage itself was clean and tastefully presented, particularly the bathroom and lounge.

We were told the heating would be on upon arrival but we found the cottage very cold. The instruction pack helped us put it on in hourly units to bring it up to a reasonable temperature. however when you are out all day in November with wooden laminate flooring and no heat on you return to a fridge. We were told to expect a welcome pack and having stayed in a number of 'Booking .Com' cottages we expected some milk, perhaps butter, bread and in some cases a welcome bottle of wine. Unfortunately at Unicorn this was not the case but fortunately my wife had taken the precaution of packing basic supplies. We were glad we had decided to arrive in daylight and also bring torches, as finding the property would not be straightforward in darkness , even with the directions provided by email.

"Well refurbished cottage with high quality furnishings, great layout and located in a lovely village"

8.0

It is a very well-refurbished cottage that uses high-quality materials and was laid out effectively for the available space. The village of Over Haddon is well-placed to explore the peak district and we had a great time here. The local pub is switched on for gluten-free allergies, which is refreshing.

There was no Wi-Fi, and the stone walls turned the cottage into a Faraday cage, so no signals came in or out of the walls. It really should have Wi-Fi in this day and age. The ad says that there is parking on-site, but there is not. It is drop-off only, so the owner should update that. You can park around the corner or in the village, which is close by, but if you have a nice car and want to keep an eye on it, you are out of luck at this property. I would ditch the small patch of grass and turn that into a car parking space for a single car. The positives outweigh the negatives, it is a lovely cottage.
