Entire Thatched Cottage

Beautiful characterful old cottage, peaceful location, nice garden, comfortable clean beds and lovely clean large towels. Handy for shops, pubs and chip shop! Friendly and helpful host.

Would have been nice to have a little washing up liquid, empty bottle and a filthy sponge left by sink ..wall lamps in lounge need a clean, as did some of the glasses. Some of the mats need replacing. A hand rail for stairs would be helpful. The ‘twin’ room is only big enough for a single bed really.

Location was good for what we wanted to do. Beds and seating areas were comfortable. Helpful host when we were able to get hold of him, who explained how things worked and put the heating on.

Cleanliness - dust and debris under beds, on fire extinguishers, filthy oven. Temperamental hot water supply. Heating wasn’t on when we arrived.

We really liked almost everything. and even the two nearby pubs were both very friendly.

If we had to nitpick, a small carton of milk would have been great. There was tea and coffee but we couldnt make a drink without going to the shops and as we didn't have a vehicle nearby, this meant a walk in the rain. If the price needed to be £1 more to cover it, it would have been perfect. Also, again, nitpicking, but though the showers were fine, the bath didn't run hot. It was tepid and had to be topped up by boiling the kettle a few times. I'm only saying this because we are being asked. It was generally excellent.

The cottage was very close to transport links and a wedding that we were there to attend at Sheene Mill. I liked the board games in the cupboard on the upstairs landing and the books available and all of the information for tourists. Also Tim was lovely.

The property was damp smelling and my allergies and asthma had a hard time. Also the water doesn’t get hot enough to have a good shower in winter. Lots of wasps in the kitchen and lots of spiders in the downstairs bathroom. We joked it was a bit of a Druids cottage. Living room lighting didn’t work well, and there weren’t many cooking pans that worked on the oven rings. There weren’t many some leftover toiletries and a few small bits in the kitchen from previous guests but would be nice to have some sugar, condiments oils and things like that.

The house was lovely, having a cup of tea in the quiet sunny garden was perfect. The location was great the village was lovely, every neighbour said hello. The host was absolutely brilliant, he couldn't do enough for us. I would highly recommend this property.

Location and was very comfortable. The owner was super friendly and assisted when we needed. Cosy and comfortable and we will be back.
