"More vigilance needed by housekeeping team"

7.0

Briar Bank has parking for two cars at the rear of the property, which is accessed via Scinde Crescent, a very narrow no through road. There is no pavement or parking at the front of the property, which is elevated above the road. There is a pedestrian exit at the other end of the Crescent. The property a short walk to the local shops, take aways and restaurants. It’s worth the ten minute walk to Shanklin Old Village with three pubs and Shanklin Chine, a brilliant attraction for the old and young. At the bottom of the Chine there is the Fisherman’s Inn and the beach. Briar Bank is a lovely property and has everything you need for a perfect stay. Plenty of character and lots of space. Excellent and ample furnishing and well-appointed kitchen although, other than breakfast we ate out or had takeaways, during our seven day stay.

The property management company failed to ensure the rear garden was clean of dog faeces, left by a previous guest’s dog. We were surprised that while showering there was standing water in the shower tray due to the drain pipe being partially blocked. The lounge door knob was loose and missing a screw. The knob fell off just missing my wife’s foot. If you need to put the heating on, be careful the thermostat isn’t securely fitted to the wall. All these should have been noticed prior to our arrival. I have brought them to the attention of the letting company who said, “We will arrange for the repairs to be addressed. The guests who stayed prior to yourself did not declare they were bringing a dog so for this reason the garden would not have been checked. We will ask the housekeeping team to be as vigilant even if a dog is not on the booking.” How could housekeeping not notice the loose door knob or loose thermostat? Worse still, they had to walk past the dog faeces which were on the path. No excuse. Notwithstanding these issues we had a great comfortable stay. Let’s hope they improve their standards for future guests, but I have to leave a lowe

Very clean comfortable house.

Very dangerous turning to pull out onto the main road. Dog poo in car parking space every morning which we had to clean up so that the grandchildren wouldn't step in it.

"Very convenient for most things , house comfortable but parking and access a bit tricky"

8.0

The size of the accommodation

The garden needed attention, grass and bushes overgrown, not very pleasant to use on a sunny day . Not knowing that there was no footpath at front of property
