Stairs tricky for the older people in our group

Quirky and quaint cottage.

Laundry room facilities could be cleaner. Lounges were dirty and uncomfortable. We did some garden maintenance and tiding up to enjoy the nice garden.

Bathroom was a little awkward at the top of the stairs on a corner and a bit small for potentially 8 adult but it wouldn’t stop us booking again for less people.

Such a cute quirky little property. Plenty of sleeping space for our group in comfortable beds, with the added studio room outside - though we didn’t actually end up sleeping in here as we preferred to have the older children in the main house with us despite their objections to this! 😄 The property had everything we needed and the little details and extras made a lot of difference, with our host setting up the stair gate and leaving a highchair ready. It’s in a great location just a short drive to the town centre, and lots of instructions and suggestions from the host on where to go/how to get there etc are all really helpful.

We knew ahead of getting to the property that the stairs are a bit steep and you do need to be careful going up and down especially little ones or people with less mobility. But the host clearly explains this in the description so you are aware before booking if this would suit you, but it also adds to the quirky cottage feel and is fine for a short stay.

We loved the house and garden

There weren't enough towels, and it would have been nice to have a welcome pack. There wasn't even a pint of milk, and the coffee, tea, and sugar were old.

Clean accommodation close to town but in a quiet location

The town itself is lovely. Picturesque, lots to see, great cafes and restaurants. The beds were all very comfortable indeed and the place was clean, quiet and nicely decorated. The property was interesting and characterful too. The owners kindly allowed us to check out later in the day as there was no one arriving that day. We would come again!

The few things we didn't like were due to us not having read the details clearly enough! But we are glad not to have read as it may have put us off coming here. So this is more about our experience than a criticism of the property! The stairs are steep and the stairs into the single bathroom (which is quite small) are quite awkward at the top of the first flight. It's all in the details with photos too. My mother is an active 81-year-old and actually didn't have much of a problem with it but she was a bit concerned at first. There were four of us so one person was in the outbuilding which was fine - although a little cold the first night so used the heating a little more the next evening. The downstairs area was about OK for four of us but would have been a little tight if we had eaten together at the table which would need to fold out. In the end the place was perfect for us as we didn't eat at the property, and it was comfortable to sit around and relax in the evenings. The location is a 20-minute uphill walk out of the town, which wasn't a problem - but it is quite steep. We parked in the station car park which was easy and reasonable value.
