4th drop top stair needs fixing - feels dangerous

Booked the cottage for a short stay with my sister who was visiting from Australia. Overall we enjoyed the cottage which provided a great base for exploring the north Norfolk coast. The cottage has character with some quirky features. The welcome pack of bread, orange juice, bananas and biscuits was appreciated.

The decorative state of the cottage is starting to look a little tired. The sofa in the lounge is rather uncomfortable as you end up slouching because it is so low and wide, consequently it is difficult to get up from for those of more mature years. The lighting in the lounge is pretty dim and could be improved. Finally, the second double bedroom could do with either some bedside lamps or have wall mounted lamps that you can switch off at the fitting rather than having to get out of bed to turn off at the light switch by the door.

Beautiful location and lovely accommodation. Had everything we needed and hosts even left some lovely biscuits and breakfast things which was a lovely touch. My toddler having her own room and having a cotbed and high chair available was also fantastic. (Also loved the ‘secret’ loo downstairs that only one of the group knew about until three days in 😂)

Very poor light in lounge- impossible to read. Dimmer switch faulty. Sofa comfortable but too low to get out of. Stairs need a rail on either side for safety- the treads are very narrow.

Lovely house and location. Let down by the admin and the housekeeping.

Booking was almost impossible, with Host and Stay saying they could not take payment via booking.com and referring us to their own page. We then tried to pay online (wouldn't work) by telephone (wouldn't work but told the problem was their end not mind), and were then sent an invoice. Eventually phoned them again and paid over the phone - but still kept getting e-mails chasing the unpaid invoice. We were given a code to the key safe - but it would have helped if we had been told where the safe was. Arriving the dark, with no street lights we had to hunt to find the box - which is around the side of the house by the vegetable patch, in case you too are looking for it! Bathroom had lots of cobwebs and there was peeling paint on the ceiling. Could not read or sew in the lounge because the trendy lights were so dim - so we spent our evenings upstairs where there were proper lightbulbs.

Lovely peaceful location

Small things, but the lighting in the lounge is poor - can’t sit and read. Would also have been nice if there had been a log burner fitted, not just the pipe left exposed in the fire place

We loved the cosy feel and decor. Good amount of space for a comfortable but cosy feel. Lovely private enclosed garden perfect to let the dog stretch their legs. We really enjoyed our 3 nights, great location being out in the countryside to get the retreat, quiet escape feel and a 20- 30 min drive to lovely towns and beaches which we loved. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

The stairs were steep so would be cautious with elderly people/young children.
