The Stables in Southwell

Fabulous location within the heart of the village. Exceptionally clean and welcoming, everything we needed was provided for. Great that tea/coffee, fresh milk, biscuits and bottle of wine was waiting for us. Smart TV so we could use our Netflix and heating worked well as we visited in November.

Superbly located. Very clean and well appointed. Well equipped.

The location is fantastic: right in the centre but in a back street with an al fresco cafe just along the way. Car parking right opposite in the lane: in fact there is room for two cars as a key to the lockup garage behind the parking space was also made available. The Stables is a quirky building, and all the better for it. There is an exceptionally spacious lounge with two comfortable sofas and lots of light, being on the first floor, adjacent to a roomy and very well equipped kitchen-diner.

It's a shame there isn't a toilet on the first floor (this could be an issue for guests who find stairs challenging), but this would be difficult to achieve without intrusively taking up space.

Lovely property with delightful character, very well appointed. Very personal greeting from Becky who has made an effort to provide a very comfortable and welcoming place to stay. Perfect location. Everything you need is provided.

Cannot think of one thing we did not like

What a lovely venue… communication with our host was first class, the property was delightful with all modern facilities in a fabulous traditional setting. A short walk to the beautiful Minster and lots of interesting shops, the like of which have all but disappeared in bigger towns and cities. Having a super big bath as well as a shower was a bonus and the upside down layout of the house was a boon in the heat… the bedrooms were super cool despite the blazing sunshine outside. Excellent!

The parking area is off a busy main road and is one way in and the same out… single track. On leaving, we found our car had been effectively trapped by what turned out to be a very surly builder. Not the host’s fault of course, but we were completely helpless until such time as he decided to return and the ensuing confrontation did sour what had otherwise been a really nice stay.

For our party of four adults the Stables was an ideal for base for a trip to Southwell, Pubs, restaurants and all amenities in easy walking distance. The property was very clean and the host checked in on us to make sure everything was satisfactory.Thanks Becky.
