Kingfisher Lodge, Lake Pochard

This lodge had all we needed to enjoy our break. Three comfortable bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, two modern bathrooms, etc. I liked the calming view of the lake and the fact that it’s dog friendly. It feels safe as it’s in a gated area.

We had just spent a weekend with friends, a baby and a dog and it was lovely. The house is cosy and well equipped. Good location, beautiful lake view. Good communication with staff. The bathroom is large and with a nice shower (good water pressure). We are definitely considering coming back when weather is better so we can enjoy the outdoors and barbecue!

Receiving dozens (maybe around 30) automated emails saying exact same thing since booking the property. The bunk bed is comfortable but really (loud) noisy (metal frame, nothing to be done I guess...)

Very comfortable lodge, faithful to the photos. Lovely lakeside location, very quiet and peaceful but still convenient for Swindon. Good communication in advance of stay, smooth process to arrange security deposit. Very clean on arrival & helpful pack with info on local area, places to eat etc & some discounts available. Well stocked kitchen, great range of utensils & crockery, roasting tins, pans etc. Plentiful hot water came through quickly, useful having adjustable heaters if needed. Rooms had plenty of drawer/wardrobe storage for longer stays. Useful having 2 showers/toilets- note the bath is technically ensuite to the double bedroom.

Hob rings seemed to take a long time to heat. Bunk beds very squeaky- worried about waking everyone when turning in bed. Ran out of toilet paper- spare roll would have been helpful. Mat on shower floor to reduce slip risk when getting out would be useful. Not immediately clear to us that bin bags and washing up liquid, cloth etc bundled together in one pack. We needed to use bin before having any washing up to do. Appreciate not all lodges in same ownership but some general work on site could benefit anyone arriving in the dark- designated parking spaces are hard to identify, rocks around parking are dark and low, tricky for those without parking sensors, route from pedestrian gate is dark & uneven if parking extra car, no lights or sensors helping mark route to lodge door, better signage to the car gate would be helpful (dark narrow road).
