Solent Sea View beach Cottage

Great location, spacious and comfortable, great sea views, quiet and relaxing. Nice garden and large convenient parking

Nothing, was perfect for our needs

Easy check in with lock box. Host was flexible in allowing an additional hour for later checkout. Comfy beds, view of sea from front rooms, quiet area, very short walk to beach the property was very clean.

Property felt tired in many places (decor, furnishings, back windows, some carpets, cushions and curtains). No microwave despite it being mentioned in description. Mostly well equipped kitchen, but only one teaspoon which was a little frustrating. Light bulb in back lobby not working and no spare available. Smoke alarm remote in kitchen was beeping and flashing brightly every 30 secs or so, lounge curtain rail in lounge broken, so curtain fell off one morning, a towel rail in bathroom would be a help and a mop to dry floor after showering.

Location - close to beach front, and shops a short drive away. Dog friendly - enclosed front garden, although large dogs could probably escape over the low wall between the cottage and the neighbour on one side. It was fine for our small dog. The kitchen appeared to be well equipped, (apart from only one teaspoon!), although we only made use of it for breakfast as we had made arrangements, with family in the area, to eat elsewhere. The immediate response from the owner when we had problems getting into the property, and in supplying us with bedding and towels (that we did not know would be needed) within an hour of our arrival.

We did not receive accurate information via Booking.com regarding the lock box code, or that we needed to bring our own towels. Only one bed was made up! At no point were we asked (by Booking.com) how many beds were required to be made up, and assumed that they would all be made up, as they usually are in every cottage we've ever stayed in previously. We have never had to bring our own towels either, so were surprised to find this out when we contacted the owner. My partner didn't find the twin bed comfortable, but the main bedroom was fine. We couldn't use the back entrance to come and go, as requested by the owner, because we couldn't remove the key from the lock to take with us.

Lovely property. But in the end, it was the rules for dogs that scuppered our stay. Our 2 year old daschund just couldn't have coped without crying or barking, which is also not allowed. See the rules in an attached photo below. Dog owners please read carefully! Having said that, the location, condition, and space were all excellent. We were sad that it didn't work for us.

Dog rules aside, we would have liked a basic hand towel for the bathroom and a handful of teabags and coffee in the kitchen. It's also worth noting that the parking is about 40m away - far enough when you're doing 4 trips to and from a car in the rain!

Location, cute house. Clean and tidy

No extra loo roll, no dish cloth. The gap between wooden boarding and first patio stone, ground isn't level. It was also overgrown. My brother twisted his ankle. If it was mown grass it would have maybe been more visible.

Spacious, washing machine, close proximity to beach, heated bathroom floor. Nautical decorations. Good walks along sea front. Nice views. Good car parking space at the end of the row of houses.

Adult beds were lumpy. Dusty in places. Odd mix of kitchenware - no sieve or drainer. Can’t light main oven but small oven ok. No extractor fan or openable window in kitchen. Stoney upper beach and tide was in most days so didn’t see the sand until the last day. Close to shop and takeaway

Really cozy beach cottage that felt lived in but also clean and comfortable. A pretty yard greeted us on arrival and its steps away from the sea! Quiet area, with convenient parking and everything we needed for kitchen cooking. A really lovely booklet of nearby activities and food options made it great!

The bathroom is definitely a wet room with the shower in the middle BUT it was very clean and didn’t bother us for a weekend away.
