Wish Cottage

The cottage was perfect for us and we had everything that we needed. The surrounding area and the village itself were lovely. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and there was a great choice of eateries.

A cosy cottage which was clean, tidy and well equipped. It’s in a great location for exploring the South Downs, close to a pub and has an enclosed garden which our dogs loved too.

Location was good

When we arrived, we were aware the previous occupants had left the previous day and expected the cottage to have retained some heat. However all the heating had been turned off and the cottage being old (we live in an old cottage therefore we appreciate the problems) it was freezing! We had to turn on all the radiators and go to the pub to get warm. Yes the radiators did a good job eventually. Had to contact the owners about the gas fire as we could not get it working and they promptly came round and checked there was nothing wrong. Better instructions would be helpful. The bathroom was disgusting, I have pictures of the black mould on the blind, and windows. In fact black mould was apparent on all the windows throughout the building.The pull string for the shower was very difficult to use and we left it on as we were afraid too many attempts would cause it to break. The towels provided were very small and threadbare. The pillows were flat and provided no comfort at all, again I have photos of these. Both towels and pillows should be replaced with new ones. The kitchen utensils including cutlery were all very dated, we had to clean everything before we used them, Had we been 4 people there would not have been enough matching plates. Luckily we were visiting friends in the village and were out for most meals. The instructions for the WiFi were meant to be on a table under the tv, but there wasn’t one, so we never found them. The instruction booklet needs updating. The garden uninviting, very overgrown, appreciate we had bad weather whilst we were there, however even our dog refused to go out. People with young children should be warned about the concrete steps. Very disappointed with the cottage and facilities provided and believe charges were excessive in relation to other properties nearby. The cottage needs a deep dive industrial clean in addition to the other suggestions to replace items. Contacted the owners when we got back but no response to date!

Location was great for going on the Downs and the coast. It was a warm and cosy cottage. Very dog friendly with an enclosed garden.
