Hope Terrace

The house was comfortable, clean and well-equipped (lots of toys and books for the toddler we had with us). The owner was very responsive to questions we asked. The bottle of wine awaiting our arrival was also appreciated. Matlock Bath is an excellent location - there are great views from the house and some good walks in the area that can be done directly from the house e.g. to Cromford or to Bonsall. We had not appreciated quite how 3-dimensional Matlock Bath is, but that was not a problem for us. Two couples came by car (one parked at the house and the other nearby with no problems) and the third couple came by train (the train station is a short walk from the house). There are no food shops in Matlock Bath itself; the nearest supermarket is a huge Sainsbury's in Matlock. Getting a supermarket delivery was no problem, however.

There were a few very minor things that did not really impact our stay much. One was that the travel cot for the toddler did not fit in the children's bedroom (with bunk beds in) - we failed to ask about that before arrival - so he had to sleep in his parents' room. A mixing bowl in the kitchen would have been good (but otherwise the kitchen was very well-equipped for cooking meals for 6). The heating was a bit uneven, hotter upstairs than downstairs.

Great views of surrounding countryside. Good location. Comfortable and plenty of room for our party of 6 adults and two children. Great communications with the owners and made to feel very welcome. indeed there was a bottle of wine waiting for us. Great spot for visiting attractions in the surrounding area. Matlock Bath illuminations we’re a definite hit and also the tram museum. A very pleasant stay.

It was rather a challenge to walk to the property from the town because of the hill and wouldn’t suit anyone with mobility difficulties. However we were aware of this before we went and it probably did us good to get some exercise! It wouldn’t put us off staying again.

Beautiful house, would love to stay again. Felt at home straight away. The host had thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable, lots of little extras, including a complimentary bottle of prosecco.

Loved everything about the house, so cannot say anything negative.
