The Lochside House Residence

The house itself is stunning and and the location is wonderful.

Lots of small items need attention, like maintenance of shelves, shower heads etc

This house is fabulous , very comfortable and great for a large family group. Duddingston is beautiful village with easy access to the royal park and Arthur's seat which you can see from the back garden.

The shower and the dishwasher didn't drain properly and we disturbed the decorator who wasn't expecting us. He was very apologetic and it wasn't a big issue except the house wasn't as clean as it could have been.

Unfortunately the location is all this property has going for it right now.

Where do I start? On paper, this property looks ideal. We checked through the reviews before booking and saw that the property hosts had responded to the comments to say they were fixing the problems/looking into them, and these reviews span from 3 years ago to now. However, all of the points that were raised from 2021 onwards, are still problems at the house now. - 3 bathrooms, only 1 half a loo roll. I sent a message through Booking and did not receive a response on this. Surely loo roll is something that should be provided in the bathrooms?? - We were informed that the downstairs shower didn't work on the day we were arriving, and that someone would be out to fix it. No one came to fix it and you couldn't even use the bath as there was a constant dripping of water going into it leaving brown water stains on the bath. So we had 8 people (1 pregnant lady) having to share 2 showers. - The beds are rock hard and creak SO much. This has been raised before, nothing has been done about it. - The pillows are all lumpy and do nothing to support you. Everyone that stayed had to take a cushion from the living room to put under them. Again, this has been raised previously. - One of the upstairs sinks must have a blockage, as when you put the tap on to wash your hands/brush your teeth, the water takes absolutely ages to finally drain out of it. - Stains all over the carpet in one of the bedrooms (photos attached). - The iron is an absolute health and safety violation. Hello, exposed wires. - There was graffiti on one of the upstairs bathroom walls, and rather than a lick of paint, it's just been scrubbed and smudged. Speaking of that bathroom, it's off that the toilet is attached to the wood facia rather than the actual wall. You sit down on it and feel like it's going to fall off. - Doorknob to the ensuite upstairs just falls off. - There are now bins in the bathroom, however they are rusty and dirty.

The location was great for us and close to family we were visiting.

There were a handful of areas throughout the house that could have used a little TLC.

It was very comfortable and we had lots of room

Probably didn’t like two bedrooms joining

Excellent place very tastefully made. It had all the amenities. Excellent for a group or larger families.

All was Good. Just a suggestion that Property had a very small board displaying name, so it was a bit difficult to find it. My suggestion would have a larger prominent display for name of property.

Beautiful location. Spacious rooms. Lots of sites and activities within walking distance. Safe and accessible garden for children.. Good base for exploring Edinburgh. Nearby pub child (and adult) friendly! Interesting gardens, by the Lochside opposite, are open daily. Self catering. Dairy, oat milk and tea and coffee provided.

Some lack of maintenance in downstairs bathroom. Problem with cooker. Windows needed cleaning and shortage of some utensils.

Big massive house, nicely tidy. Easy access to the property and deposit was back on no time
