"A lovely cosy cottage, perfect for a couple of nights away"

8.0

Great location close to the South Lakes. Really peaceful and tranquil (although the pub next door was closed for refurbishment). Cosy cottage with everything you would need for a short stay. The owner left a bottle of milk in the fridge for teas/coffees!

No parking outside the cottage, although plenty of free parking nearby. It would benefit from an outside light as there is no street lighting. We couldn't work out how to light the gas stove, despite having instructions!

"Perfect little cottage in a great location."

Perfect location in the village and also as a base for other trips we’d planned!! All rooms were a great size and fully equipped kitchen.

Could not fault the property itself. Comfortable, clean and had everything we needed for our short break. Welcome goodies much appreciated too

Very loud noise from a karaoke evening at the pub next door on the last night of our stay (Sunday) which went on until after midnight. Hope this was a one off for the sake of future guests. Unfortunately, would stop us from booking the property again

"A disappointing stay due to unsafe furniture and the way concerns were dealt with."

3.0

It had what you needed for the stay.

There were some major issues with the place. One of the dining chairs was a serious safety hazard. As soon as my partner moved it to sit down, the seat collapsed. What made matters worse was the way the issue was handled afterwards. Instead of acknowledging that the chair was already unsafe, we were accused of causing the damage. The host later stated that the cleaner had tucked the chair away at the back of the table, which in itself shows they knew it wasn’t fit for use. If a chair is unsafe, it should be removed entirely or marked clearly, not left at the dining table where guests can reasonably assume it’s available. This was extremely dangerous and could easily have caused an accident. The communication around this felt unprofessional and left us with a poor impression. Pat spoke to myself on a very degrading and unprofessional way. We were also asked to pay an extra £20 “cleaning fee” for bringing a dog, even though this was already included in our confirmation. This felt misleading and unfair. On smaller points, the bath towels were very small (wouldn’t wrap around anyone over a size 10/12), no hand towels were provided (only a tea towel in the kitchen), and there was nowhere in the bathroom to hang one. Overall, while the cottage itself was fine in some respects, the unsafe chair, the attempt to charge an extra fee that was already covered, and the way issues were dealt with afterwards mean we would not return.

It was the perfect size for the 2 of us, clean and cosy with great facilities and really well set up with everything you could possibly need.

There is no name or number on the front door so a little hard to find as there is also no street sign with the road name. The bed was very hard, I prefer a softer mattress.
