South Cheshire House

The house was big enough to accommodate our group.

The house was cold because the heating wasn’t working, On the day of arrival the host brought 3 electric heaters - which didn’t help much with heating, I notified the host. Next day we realised that, there was an issue with hot water and whilst cooking our Xmas dinner the cooker went off, I notified the host. She only replied to my texts much later, when we’ve resorted to cooking outside on the bbq stand. She advised us to manually override heating settings on the thermostat, yet she was also controlling the heating on her HIVE app. On Boxing Day the neighbours complained to her about noise and disturbance, the host was very quick to attend to them but it took her a day and half to respond to my texts, she didn’t even bother to send anyone to assist with the water, heating and cooker issue.

It is difficult to find a place to accommodate 10 people so this house was great for that reason. We had an elderly couple in our party so the downstairs bedroom and shower room where ideal. However, the ground floor is not on one level, there are steps down into the dining room and kitchen so be aware. The location of the house was good for us as we were attending an event nearby.

This house was obviously used as either student accommodation or has been rented out by the room and the house is maintained as such. The front garden and pathway are untidy and covered in weeds. There was a musty smell when we first entered, particularly in the dining room and we had to buy air freshener. There are digital locks on all of the doors with no information anywhere on the codes to open them, however, I was able to contact the owner who provided photos. The towels provided were very old and not enough. Smaller, hand towels would be useful when you need to dry hair after a shower. Would suggest you bring your own. Overall the house was acceptable for our short stay but I would say is not as glossy and well maintained as the photos suggest.

Great location in Crewe with good links to other places in the country. Spacious bedrooms, though the living/dining area was a bit smaller than expected. Comfortable, clean, good set up in the kitchen, excellent appliances, paved outdoor space at back, good parking. Good light, and quiet neighbourhood.

Would have been useful to have a water jug in the kitchen, some tea towels, and some serving bowls and solid metal serving spoons. Would have liked separate dining and sitting areas, but worked okay. Was comfortable.

Krisztina was an excellent host, was on hand to deal with any issues/questions. The house itself was clean and spacious and very tastefully decorated. Was the perfect place for us to rest during our week of work! Can’t thank you enough!!
