Host & Stay - The Cottage Barn

The cottage is in a lovely rural location, although a car is essential, as it is quite isolated and nowhere near any shops. The house is very dated but comfortable in terms of space, beds and the lounge area.

We arrived to no heating or hot water, the house was very cold, dusty with cobwebs . It felt that it had not been used for some time. There were no instructions, or information to be found in the house. We managed to get the heating and hot water working, and I reported this problem using the online information site - which was completely useless. It referred to a thermostat which we could not find, and said that the heating was automatic, or words to that effect. There were several missing light bulbs including the cooker hood and fridges, and we felt that the bathrooms were very dated and both showers very small, with a step down which was not very safe. There was no information re recycling or bin collections. One of the dining chairs was broken, we did report this on arrival. Although there were numerous plates and dishes and small teacups and saucers, there were only 5 mugs, one of which was chipped, not very adequate for a house which sleeps 6. We all felt that the whole house required some thorough maintenance checking, none of which would be expensive, and an apology for the lack of heating and hot water on arrival would have been appreciated. we did report this using the online facility but I'm fairly sure that nobody reads that or updates it, despite the modern QR code.

We loved this barn it was great for visiting areas nearby

The kitchen and the lounge is massive. The rooms also large and comfortable. The place is quite away from the noise of the city. I highly recommended this place to stay.

Need new sofa set.

Lots of space not too cluttered White cotton bedding and towels all good quality. Just a little of everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Just a very small thing but because we eat in a better set of silverware would have been good.

Very quiet area, easy to park at property. Cottage very clean with good kitchen facilities. Ample space for a large family.

The place was fantastic

A beautiful location in the middle of the Yorkshire dales. Plenty of towels, everything you needed was on hand and everything was beautifully clean.

The main bed would benefit from a new mattress.
