Thistle Thatch Cottage and Hot Tub - Mourne Mountains

Everything. So special, the best place I’ve ever stayed!

The location was exactly what we wanted. Andy, the host, was very helpful and responsive. He assisted massively when snow was expected.

Absolutely loved our weekend at the cottage, away from everything. The views are spectacular. The wood burning stove kept the whole place warm and cosy, and is a dream to cook on. The hot tub was the cherry on top of a perfect stay. Thanks again to Andy, who's created this perfect little sanctuary frozen in time.

Nothing to dislike.

The property was absolutely stunning, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Mournes with breath-taking views. The decor was done to a fine art and everything about the cottage is cosy and comfortable. If you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway, there is no better place. Andy, the host was very helpful and was always only a call or text away when needed. We hope to return some time again in the future.

Just make sure to bring a little extra wood if you want to constantly have the stove and living room fires going like we did.

Perfect couple of days to slow down and be cozy

The back to basics feel of our stay. We thought at first the lack of a TV was some thing we were going to miss but not a bit. It would have taken away from the feel, and peace of our stay. The wood burning stove is not a restriction on what you can cook. You just have to rethink your meals. Old school. We will look back on our trip with fondness.

The grounds could have been a bit more managed but it wasn't a deal breaker. We missed the furs which were in the advertisement photos. They would have added to the feel of the interior.

Property untidy from the outside

The Thistle Thatch Cottage is one of the best places we have ever stayed in. It is truly unique, if you want to experience a little piece of the past book this place.

Everything, beautiful little find. We went for our second wedding anniversary 💕 We adored thw cottage, in fact we didn't leave all weekend. Andy was on the end of the phone if we needed him. Quirky and relaxing, people mentioning lack of wood, can't expect owner to have wood on tap we felt. Wood in town cheap. Just use stove when you plan to cook heat up about two hours beforehand and it keeps place cosy for hours.
