Castle View Cottage

The location of this property cannot be beaten, out of the lounge front window a wonderful view of the Cathedral, from the rear a wonderful view of the Castle. (Pictures Shown). A short walk to restaurants and pubs. Castle and Cathedral almost in touching distance. The cottage has everything you need to be comfortable and feel at home. Residents parking permit, so park the car and leave it for your stay. Yes as has been said the stairs are a little steep but in a property of that age it's called a feature not a fault. This was our second visit and we wouldn't stay anywhere else. On this trip we didn't need our host Susan but we know she is always there if needed.

Location, location, location. Parked car after drooping off bags and never used again for tge duration of the stay.

Well situated for exploring the old areas of the city. Small but very well equipped.

Although facilities mentioned access upstairs only by staircase it did not say how steep and narrow they are. Hard to carry cases up and not suitable for anyone with knee or hip issues.

Great location. Property was very nice and comfortable.

The property was clean, however there were a few cobwebs I noticed, but overall very happy.

Ideal location in Bailgate, stunning views of Cathedral and Castle. Cottage was clean and comfortable. Outside area lovely, great view of the castle lit up at night

The steps

This is a lovely cottage-style property literally right next to Lincoln Castle. It's very convenient for the area around the castle and the cathedral. The cottage has pretty much everything you might need including full cooking equipment and even a washing machine. The bed was very comfortable and it's equipped with a good fan (which we definitely needed during our stay). The owner gave us easy-to-follow instructions for how to obtain the keys for entry to the property and also clear advice on where to park. The property doesn't have its own parking space. Instead we were given a parking permit which let us park on two roads nearby. The roads have a lot of cars on but it wasn't to hard to find a space.

The property is one of the best we've stayed in. But if there's a downside it's related to its age. I'm not sure when it was built but it's certainly from a time in which the needs of people with disabilities was not a major concern. Specifically, this is a property on three floors - a ground floor kitchen and toilet, a first floor loung area with access to a nice little balcony/patio and the second floor bedroom with another toilet and a shower. The stairs between we floors are extremely steep with some very narrow steps. The lower of the two is also quite uneven. This is an older property. Stairs from when the property was built are all like this I think. The owner has made efforts to improve as much as they can - but these are tricky stairs to navigate if you have mobility issues - as I do :( If you are fully mobile I would say that you still need to be careful but the steps are OK. If you have any difficulty with balance or movement, or if you're not able to climb steps which are much bigger than the ones you find in an average modern property then this property is going to be challenging. I WAS able to climb the stairs despite my mobility issues. I found the best way was to "crawl" up the stairs using both hands and feet. I hope that I'm not putting off people without mobility issues. This is a really nice property and the owner was helpful and comminicative. If you do have mobility issues I'm sure the property owner will be happy to describe things in more detail for you to make sure you will be able to climb those stairs :)

Stunning property in a stunning location situated between castle and cathedral with views to both. As well as the beauty of the castle and cathedral the immediate area offers an array of restaurants, cafes, pubs and independent shops. The property itself is spotlessly clean, comfortable and oozes character. I loved it!
