"It never happened and we needed to rearrange ourselves now chasing a refund. Very disappointing."

We were called 40 mins before our arrival to say we could not stay there as the property had a water issue.

The service afterwards was poor at best. Will be complaining today and sorting a refund.

"Last minute let down."

Didn’t get to stay there so can’t comment.

After messaging to say an hour away as per instructions, got message from owner to say they had a leak at the property and had impression was in the process of sorting. Was asked to meet at another address. Turned up and was then told they would call in the evening once plumber had been, although leak apparently occurred Thursday evening but plumber not arriving until Friday evening, but that property had met at was available to use in the meantime (not sure if it’s listed with Booking.com). I said husband a tradesman, offered to assist if needed, but was told no and that there was quite a bit of water and that the wet room needed drying out (a wet room is a fully tiled/waterproofed room) and then said house wouldn’t be available at all for the weekend. I was a bit skeptical about the explanation, but it could just be my cynicism especially as we were not notified sooner, only mentioning issue when replying to my message when an hour from property. I replied property that we’d met at not what booked or at same value to the Hindlip property, especially due to location. Owner said to go get husband (as initially waiting in car with children) and he’d be ok with alternative, to which I replied that he’d agree with me that it was not acceptable. I was told to contact customer services to get refund and they’d help find alternative accommodation. As it turned out Booking.com were able to assist, (wasn’t even aware they assist with finding alternative accommodation). Owner mentioned having had had a bad review before hence offering alternative. However, owner hadn’t tried to contact us Thursday evening or Friday morning to appraise us of the issue, as mentioned they’d only contacted us in response to my message when we were an hour away. We were visiting family and friends for our daughter’s 16th, so to find out last minute put us in a predicament but thankfully got sorted quite quickly by Booking.com.
