West end cottage and shippon

Had a lovely birthday weekend staying in this cozy cottage. When we arrived, we were greeted by Ricky, who was very welcoming. The cottage is full of character features and very warm and comfortable. It is a great base for exploring the area, and we enjoyed 2 wonderful meals at different bars/restaurants in Eyam. There is a great induction hob with electric oven fitted in the kitchen, as well as a microwave, so we were able to enjoy cooked breakfasts before going out. Ricky's chickens were very eager to say hello to us through the kitchen window, which was great to see in the evenings! The garden area and views over Eyam were spectacular.

The cottage has private parking, which is a huge bonus in a village. However, it is a narrow turning off the main road. In itself, this is fine, and there is plenty of room to turn in and park on the large drive. But with cars parked on either side of the turning and a car parked opposite, bigger vehicles may struggle to turn in. On our final night, a car was parked somewhat over the entrance, so we decided to park on the road rather than risk scratching it. This wasn't the fault of the hosts, and we were grateful to have parking for most of our stay!

We loved everything, The cottage was exceptionally clean and decorated and dressed in character. Ricky and Chris are amazing hosts. The fridge stocked with milk, essential provided until we could get to the shop. Fresh eggs from the adorable chickens and plenty of household items for cleaning. There was everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. Loved sitting out in the courtyard in the Sun and watching the chickens. On our last night, we had the best curry delivered as recommended by Ricky. Parking outside the cottage was an added bonus. Thank you, Ricky and Chris for hosting us. We had a wonderful time and will be back. Xx

The standard of the cottage was absolutely exceptional. The hosts made us feel very comfortable. We were planning on staying in the Castleton area but could not find anything. This turned out to be a blessing as stayed at this marvellous place. Will aim to stay here in Ewam whenever visiting the Peak District area. Probably the best cottage my wife and I have stayed at.

The Shippon was so comfortable and warm, the bed you didn't want to get out of!!. It was peaceful and relaxing exactly what we wanted. Ricky made sure we had everything we needed, just no eggs as the chickens weren't laying. Our first time in the Peak District and it won't be our last.
