Main Street

Heat was on when we arrived. Spacious rooms with comfy beds. Clean kitchen and bathrooms.. Bakery and pub and shops close by. Nice museum next door. Beach just 2km away. Céide fields visitor centre with nice cafe just a few minutes drive.

The location was exactly what we wanted - a quiet, peaceful place to spend the night. The fact that there are several bedrooms and a laundry room was also great. Check-in was super easy.

Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed by a number of things: - The whole house smelled damp and mouldy. There was visible mould on the walls in several rooms. This resulted in all of us waking up with a stuffy nose (not ideal for the one person with asthma in our group) and also our clothes feeling a bit damp. - The place had clearly not been cleaned before our arrival, which was a major issue for us. A few examples: The upstairs toilet and sink were not cleaned - there were visible toothpaste remains in the sink. The downstairs bathroom look clean-ish at first, but then we noticed that the toilet base was covered in old urine lines. The house also wasn't vacuumed - especially in the bathroom, you could see hair, dust and dirt on the floor. The kitchen cupboard above the hob was covered in old cooking grease, which looked like it could drip into our cooking food at any moment. At least the bedding smelled freshly washed. - After our stay here, we all left with tiny bite marks on our bodies. We thought it was mosquitoes at first, but then realised it looked more like flea bites. This together with the fact that our dog started scratching a lot suggests that there might've been some fleas jumping around. The place has great potential, but could really do with a general overhaul and a thorough clean.

Good location for hiking and outdoor activities. House was clean and well equipped. Had oven and microwave and even an air fryer so has been updated from earlier reviews. House also has loads of solar so is very sustainable too! Dog friendly also which was great.

Everything was good. The town is quiet but one bar up the street does limited food and it’s an easy drive to Killala or Ballina.

The dust and cobwebs- have photos as proof. Damp smell through out the house. Stairs are extremely dangerous- slipped coming down the last four four. Could not get the television working. Very frustrating and disappointing No one came to see me or answer my message Friday evening. Have taken photos but would prefer to hold on to them if there is any disagreement.
