The house unfortunately wasn't clean, the kitchen worktops and handles were greasy and cupboards had crumbs in them. The living room had a foul smell (animal excretion)and in need of a deep clean and carpet wash, as a Muslim family it was imperative for carpets and upholstery to be clean this wasn't the case. Closest Halal restaurant was 30 mins away in York making it a 60 min round trip with no option to UBER as it is very remote.Very warm in the upstairs bedrooms so please pack fans. The velux windows were very tired and in disrepair. I can see how this could be an amazing property if the owners deep cleaned it and kept on top of maintenance as the surrounding area is very scenic. All in all a disappointing few days , hoping the owners can restore this place by giving it the much needed TLC that it deserves.

Lovely and clean, comfortable and welcoming. Beautiful countryside, relaxing and peaceful. Owners really nice, easy to communicate with. We particularly liked the canine welcome wagon!!

Comfortable property,good that one of the bedrooms is downstairs and opposite the bathroom which was ideal for my mother in law . Lovely surroundings

Everything was fine

Quiet location, nice place to relax and spend time with family.

It was a bit out of the way of city centre but we knew that and enjoyed the secluded beautiful surroundings.

Good facilities,, nice views and an ideal place to relax, good location, very handy for York, .

Location and setting.

Some mattresses were very uncomfortable/ poor quality. The grill pan had foil & food left from previous guests. Some cutlery & glassware were not particularly clean.

A lovely immaculately clean cottage in a beautiful location. The setting was gorgeous and ideally placed for visiting York and the surrounding area- we had a great day out at Castle Howard. Thank you!
