Ailsa Lodge with Hot Tub

Filthy Hot tub Dirty Cushions Mold in one of bathrooms Woken early (before 9am) by maintenance staff on both days, due to excessive grass cutting. (I work night shifts so generally stay up late, being woken early made me more tired leaving this break than I was when I arrived)

Fabulous 5 star lodge with all the comforts you can wish for and the hot tub just perfect ! Set in beautiful grounds with JJ's bar and grill for when you don't fancy cooking - can highly recommend 👌

Beautiful lodge, modern and clean. We have two dogs and there was a tub of treats and a dog bowl for water. We liked the tv blanket. Lodge is stocked with various items you would require I.e cleaning products, cloths, salt and pepper. Hot tub was clean. There are privacy screens which is a nice touch. Allerthorpe park next to property which is lovely for the dogs and water sports. Grounds of property are well kept, lovely golf course. Straight road drive into York. Takes 30 minutes

- We couldn’t find the back cushions for the outdoor couch - no toaster - light on extractor fan didn’t work - signal for normal tv wasn’t great and hard to find normal tv channels - No base sheet provided for the sofa bed. - JJ’s resturant was a hit or a miss. First night great service but my chicken was raw. second night prawn cocktails had no sauce on the prawns. When we asked for sauce the waitress informed us there was none left as they put vodka in it. (It did not mention vodka on the menu so if you don’t drink alcohol it would be a problem). instead of sending them all back, we made our own sauce from mayonnaise and tomato sauce. They were still charging us full price (even although we would’ve sent them all back if we didn’t make our own sauce), we had to complain, only be offered £2 off each one. There is also something on the bill called food tax. never heard of food tax. Wouldn’t go back.

The Lodge was really homely and my while family loved our stay there. It didnt feel like it was a caravan as it was so spacious and the amenties are top class. The site itself sits very convniently around 30 mins from York city centre while being in a nice secluded park. The nearest shops are just 5-10 mins away. We will book again in the future as we really enjoyed our stay
