Guesthouse Shitanoe - Vacation STAY 73436v

This guesthouse is located in a peaceful spot on the river. It is a 3 minute walk to the supermarket which has a good variety of foods for cooking or snacking on during hiking. I stayed here when doing part of the kumano kodo and I found it in a good location for this purpose.

Nous avons beaucoup aprécié autant de place et de calme pour notre randonnée sur le kumano kodo. Notre séjour était court, mais le sèche-chaussures et la machine à laver nous ont été très utiles! Un vrai chalet de randonneurs avec tout l'équipement nécessaire, une atmosphère authentique. Tout était propre et la litterie était très confortable; et la vue sur le fleuve Kumano magnifique. Les propriétaires étaient disponibles et nous ont tout de suite aidé à retrouver des clés oubliés dans le Onsen d'une ville voisine. Un grand merci à eux encore!

Les toilettes sèches peuvent surprendre (surtout quand on s'habitue si vite au Japon à trouver partout tant de toilettes bien plus modernes qu'en Europe!) mais c'est un bon principe écologique, et cela n'a gaché en rien notre séjour. Un détail encore: à 2 personnes, la poubelle de recyclage plastiques fut vite saturée.

Kitchen needs a working microwave. Otherwise it is typical of what expects in rural Japan

The futon were comfortable and the woman who cooked meals did an amazing job.

The location was directly onto a road (or water sprayed in the door every time a car came past), there were no inside or outside shoes, the bathroom was grim, the kitchen was very basic, but the worst thing was the composting toilet (& putting the toilet paper into a rubbish bin next to it).

Situated directly across the road from the river and a short walk to the local supermarket. The beds upstairs were very comfortable and you can hear the birds (Hawks?) flying near the water. We walked in whilst hiking the Kumano Kodo trail. Make sure you swim in the river if you've hiked in. The supermarket just down the road is amazing!

It was great having the whole place to ourselves. We loved the heater under the table, it was lovely and cosy. Our host was very friendly and helpful.

The bathroom was pretty basic with nowhere to get changed unless you stood in the kitchen area. Although it was great to have a compost toilet the method to 'flush' it was pretty laborious and noisy, (pulling a handle backwards and forwards 20 times). Not very discreet!
