"Simple budget guesthouse"

Very spacious, simple, and peaceful budget guesthouse. Good kitchen and across road from small supermarket, so is good for budget travellers. The host was very friendly and helpful. He speaks English. Nice 50 minute walk on Kumano Kodo to/from Hongu village.

We really enjoyed meeting the host and his children who were extremely friendly and helpful. This was a perfect place to stay when hiking on the Kumano Kodo, since we had the whole house to ourselves and could cook and relax after a long day on the trail. The house is a former shop that has been nicely renovated. The downstairs space displays wool and fiber crafts made by this creative and artistic family. The upstairs is a wood-lined sleeping space with views across the river. The host is committed to ecological living -- the house has a composting toilet, which comes with instructions!

A beautiful property, traditional style cedar floor and walls, very comfortable and relaxing space. Eco conscious ownership with a great compostable toilet system, which was very hygienic. It’s set in a great location for visiting Onsens, walking trails and exploring the area. Convenient location to the supermarket and bus stop.
