Sumihotaru Honoka Machiya House

枕の柔らかさが私にピッタリで、ぐっすり眠る事ができました。

The staff were nice at check in

The location is ‘countryside’ as a neighbour put it! No restaurants no coffee places, far from anything until we found the 207 bus stop near by.The dim lighting! so difficult to cope with! Why is it so dark in there? even during the day. The bathroom is musty.There is room for a soft couch under the stairs, instead the people sleeping downstairs had rock hard stools.

Nicely done up and clean, love the tatami sleeping arrangement, bathroom looking into small garden also a sweet touch

Location is a bit away from Kyoto shopping/going out area but good connection with public transport.

The only thing we liked is the decoration of the home and the Japanese style with filter coffee

The location is far away from every attraction; Temples or any touristy area. You need to walk for 7 minutes away from main street to catch the bus , the bus is very slow, it is 22 minutes away from train station, Kyoto station is very far away too We almost froze to death in the property in the last 2 nights even though I told the stuff about the problem, since day 1 we didn’t have hot water until last day! And since day 2 no heating system and the weather was freezing outside and was worst inside the house. The hotel is far away than the house itself no body to get to home to help us and the check out was at 10 am! Very disappointed. The bedding was dusty and looks old

It was lovely to stay in a traditional house and a typical residential neighbourhood.

I don't believe the bath had been cleaned.

Modern decor, 2 toilets, comfortable beds, washing machine.

The shower smelt damp and needs to be ventilated.
