The owner welcomed us very kindly and showed us around the house. The house is traditional Japanese style. A true traditional experience in Kyoto.

The neighbourhood was very nice and felt incredibly safe for walking around. The house is quite private and very quiet. The washing machine and hanging laundry on the deck worked quite well. The owner is very nice and accommodating. The price was very reasonable.

The house is quite dated. There’s a mildew smell of dank old house throughout. We opened windows or ran the dehumidifier but it was still quite strong. The futon beds are very thin and hard. The pillows are also thin and hard. There’s some black mold on the bathroom around the tub where the silicone has come off. The toilet has brown stained tiles and a very terrible odour. It’s a 2 bedroom house. There is no 3rd bedroom. They count a space between the two bedrooms as a bedroom but there’s no way downstairs without walking through this room. So no privacy. With 2 bedrooms and only 1 bathroom it was very tight for our group of 6. A ladder is positioned outside the bathroom window and there is no ventilation so you have to have the window open. This bothered the girls a lot. They didn’t feel safe with it. I think this might be a case of you get what you pay for. Unfortunately I wouldn’t stay again.

Friendly and accomodating hosts. Well equipped kitchen and laundry.

It’s great value, big and comfortable. Neighbourhood is very quiet. Our host was wonderful and went out of her way to help us. There is also a mochi cafe around the corner:)

It’s a little way from town but the plus side is it’s close to Funaoka onsen and Kinkakuji.

Plenty of room and well set up with the whole house to ourselves. It’s close to Funaoka onsen which is a favourite and of course also very close to Kinkaku-ji. It’s cheap, very comfortable accommodation. Our host was lovely and went out of her way to help when there was a mix up with how many guests were staying. This was my fault, not hers but as we have come to expect in this country she was extremely gracious.

It was initially difficult to find but this was a Google maps problem.Also, it’s a fair distance from town by bus, however I knew this when we booked and the fare is only ¥230 each way.
